I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing from other novels I read. Even with how short a read it was from my normally longer novels. It was captivating and kept me involved from beginning to end. I didn't feel like I was missing anything as she kept the story line well written and engaging. The ending was well written and didn't really end on a cliff hanger. It made me come up with and envision their lives further down the road from the way it ended. I'm excited to read other books from her.

Mail-order bride Kate has been disappointed in love and cheated of everything she had of value. Into her life comes yet another cheat, liar, and gambler. Will she ever be able to make her life right? This story is told with a great deal of humor, and proved a delightful way to start my day. But I will save the twists and turns for your enjoyment and discovery.

After Kate was swindled by her future groom she was seeking revenge. Her plot for getting that revenge was thwarted with devastating consequences and Ren was the one to suffer. A very enjoyable story.

Kate thought she was in love with Walter, but then he stole the deed to some land her father left her, as well as jilting her. She needed to make a plan to get the deed back in her hands.

Ren was a thief and the man he ran with had perished after cheating at cards. But Ren was adamant that he was going to be a changed man and live rightly. But not until after he took a few more things to help him get by…

When Kate asks him to help her steal back her deed, he has no idea how his life will change.

    Loved the epilogue 💘

The story is part of the Honorable Husbands series by various authors and each story will read as a stand-alone and can be read in any order. These are clean, Western historical tales that mitigating circumstances will result in couples seeking a mail-order spouse.

1902 in Rosebud, Montana, Kate Bailey suffered a loss from the man whom she was supposed to marry. Walter made a fool out of her, making her believe he loved her, and while she was at the seamstress for a gown fitting, he went through her possession and stole the land deed left to her by her father—and then left town. She needs someone who can help her and plans to post an ad. Only she is waylaid at the post office and her letter isn’t mail—but neither does she have it in her possession.

Professional pick-pocket, Renegade ‘Ren’ Sterling is intrigued by Kate and flusters her to the point she leaves the post office, but not before he snares the letter and sees what is in it. He decides to address the issue she has wanting a mail-order husband and goes from there.

“WANTED: Husband. Must be young with a sense of adventure, practical and willing to help right an incalculable wrong.”

The story’s plot will have Ren being forthright to Kate about lifting the letter and wanting to be the man she would marry. He is curious about the incalculable wrong that she needs to be corrected and thinks he can help with the task. These two are both leery but attracted to one another.

“If nothing else, married life with these two is going to be lively.”

I liked the story and how Ren turns his life around, not wanting to be a thief, and willing to make things right. He is reluctant to help Kate recover the deed to the land, but it means so much to her, he agrees to the plan. But what happens when things go wrong? Has he lost his wife and freedom? The story does have the good, the bad, and the ugly of people—and redemption is possible. They learn how to trust and support one another, seeing dreams come true.

“Here was her husband, the man who she had chosen by accident, but who had supported her through everything that had come at them.”

This was an enjoyable read but I have to admit that I struggled with the heroine.

When the heroine left when the going got tough seemed extreme for how long she nursed her hurt. I understand that the author used this to create a sense of tension in the plot. That being said, it made the heroine a bit too contradictory (for me) after what she asked the hero to do for her.

If you look past this and take it as creative license it is a good story.

Mail-Order Thief by Kathyrn LeBlanc ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Book 10/20 in the Honorable Husbands series. Each book is a stand alone by different authors. I'm enjoying this series very much and these book was no different. All these authors are amazing.

Kate was "won" by a gambling debt from her father to Walter who did her dirty. Leaving her alone, penniless, angry and untrusting. But what is she to do to survive? She writes an advertisement for a husband. The letter never gets posted. The letter gets stolen. she returns to her room at the boarding house.

When Ren walks into town and he sat his eyes on Kate. Can her walls be broken and her heart open for love? Or will she grow old alone.

What a compelling tale on the power and weight of choice! Ren Sterling in Honorable Husbands: Mail Order Thief by Kathryn LeBlanc is so charming and appealing! He's trapped in a life he doesn't want to live. I love when he decides he can live differently! Kate Bailey had just one thing on her mind... getting back what she believes belongs to her, no matter the cost. But sometimes, our best laid plans just blow up in our faces! I was so excited when Kate looked outside of herself and her pain to realize what she had done! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the twists and turns on the way to Ren and Kate putting their lives back together!
