Heiress Miranda Howarth-Dunn longs for the things money can’t buy. Orphaned and raised by servants, Miranda seeks comfort and companionship at a riding academy. Inspired by her friend whose disabled brother wished to ride, Miranda envisions creating an equine therapeutic program that gives patients and their families opportunities to ride together. All she needs is a genuine cattle ranch to make her dreams come true. Ethan Baldwin, a fourth-generation of throw-back cowboys, values doing things the old way. He finds his family ranch and land of his ancestors, under constant threat. The unpredictable nature of the cattle industry tests the financial stability of all the ranches surrounding the small community of Rambletap Springs, MO, including the Baldwin’s ranch, Alma Soñada. Though it could secure the finances, the last thing Ethan wants is for his parents to bring tourists to the ranch for some riding program. Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home brings together two adversaries who, despite their opposite goals and different backgrounds, find mutual understanding as they work together around horses. Learning to communicate using animals as an example, Miranda and Ethan travel on parallel paths seeking a way to bridge the gap created by their differences. Forced into a dangerous situation, they rely on their spiritual connections to the energies around them to cope. Can the ghosts of legends and lore with whom Miranda and Ethan feel a connection be their common ground? Will they discover they might be kindred spirits after all?

Suzanne (D’Ambrogi) Catalano has been a story teller since she was a child mostly writing about her dogs and horses, family, and cars. Suzanne began writing novels, and became a published author in 1999 with a contribution of short stories in an Anthology, Along the Way: our unique relationship with horses.

Suzanne has traveled across the country with her dog, Winnie, learning, practicing and competing in the K9 Performance Sport; Nose Work. In a short time, Suzanne and Winnie have earned many competitive titles and are currently trialing at the Summit and Detective levels.

Suzanne’s stories are now filled with insight and inspiration as she shares what she has learned from raising her kids, horses and dogs. In her book, A Little Dog’s Adventures in a Big Dog’s World, Suzanne demonstrates the remarkably deep connection she now has with her dog and is passing on her philosophy with examples of doing Nose Work Winnie’s way.

Newly published is Suzanne's second book, Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home, a cowboy fiction romance novel about a Montana cattle rancher and an equine therapy program director who come from different worlds and must work through their differences by channeling the healing powers of equine energy.

In retirement, Suzanne now writes fiction novels which include strong animal characters to bring out the personalities of the protagonists.

Suzanne (D’Ambrogi) Catalano, a Sonoma County, CA native where she lived her whole life, has recently picked up and moved to the Sonoran desert in Tucson, AZ.

“I have been a Redwood Tree all my life. It’s time to be a Saguaro.”—S.Catalano

I was immediately immersed in this book after the first few pages. The author's description of a time and place in each chapter made it so easy to visualize every scene. The characters are interesting and the clever way that both the animal and human world are entwined was what made it a lovely read for me personally.

This light and refreshing read includes interesting insight into the relationships of humans and animals, and some fun comparisons emphasizing the truth that all great relationships are based on gentleness, honesty, trust, and connection.

At first, I thought this was NOT a great example of how women should expect to be treated as they set boundaries around unwanted romantic relationships, nor how they should pursue healthy communication in desirable relationships. But on closer inspection, I wonder whether the author has intentionally shown the juxtaposition of dysfunctional human/human relationships compared with healthier human/animal and human/nature relationships. It's a quiet lesson on how and why humans often get it wrong, and ways we might do better. Catalano, in her exuberance for horses, dogs, sky, water, trees, soil, and sunshine has given us a peek into a healthier way of being.

If you love dogs and horses as much as I do, you will absolutely adore author Suzanne Catalano's latest book, Sun-Kissed Mountains of Home.
Throughout the budding romance between Miranda and Ethan, there is a spiritual connection between the humans and their four-legged associates. It is obvious from Catalano's writing that she definately understands just how valuable this connection is.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a romance filled with all the day-to-day roadblocks that can get in the way of happiness, and how all the stops are overcome.

Set on a cattle ranch, this book will touch your heart in many ways. Fear, determination, abuse and true love this touches on all those emotions and more. My heart went out to Miranda and having lost my parents at a young age I could empathize with her. A wonderful touching story and I can’t wait to read more by this author.

This was a delightful book to read and definitely pulled on my heart strings being a horse girl myself. I admire the main characters tenacity and deep love for horses, which pulled her through challenging times. I definitely recommend this book!

Suzanne Catalano beautifully describes not only the beautiful love story and the struggles of two people who are meant for each other but she also takes the reader into the world of farm life, horse training and horse therapy for traumatized or handicapped children! A very interesting and deeply touching read! I did not only enjoy the love story but also learned a lot of interesting things about what kind of deep connection between a human and an animal is possible.I highly recommend this unusual story!

In this fast paced self centered world, it is refreshing to have a traditional story about the struggles of love and romance and life. right from the beginning, Suzanne pulls the reader into the story and keeps them there. The imaginings of riding a horse on a cattle ranch through the struggles of each individual in the story. It is easy to imagine each person and even the horses and cattle as they play the part to bring the story to life.
