Life's Fortune (Life Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.8 out of 5 stars 50 ratings

Living in Northern Wisconsin is all thirty-five-year-old Rebekah Hayward has ever known. A "good girl" who has never complained and always done as she's told, she loves God; her family; baking; and her minister husband, Ethan, whom she married at the age of eighteen.

There isn't a day that goes by where Rebekah doesn't think about her older sister, Dee, who left home when they were children, never to be seen again. Though Rebekah's parents might control her life, they can't control her secret desire to find Dee.

Rebekah has other secrets as well: her desire to open her own bakery someday, and her love of and success with playing the lottery-a fact she must keep hidden from Bible-thumping Ethan. She soon realizes, however, that she isn't the only one harboring secrets.

Life's Fortune is the first in a four-book series that shares the life, love, family, and friendships of Rebekah Hayward as she embarks on a delayed quest for personal growth, self-discovery, and all the sweetness life has to offer.

Another winner from Susan Amond Todd. Engaging read about the ups and downs in the life of Rebekah and her family in small town Wisconsin. Once you start reading, you can't stop. Looking forward to seeing what happens to Rebekah in the next installment in the series.

This is the third book written by Susan Todd that I have read and it did not disappoint. I love books when you have a hard time putting them down. I can’t wait until the second in this series is released. So excited that this series is 4 books, can’t wait for the story to unfold even more. I would highly recommend bookclubs to read all her books.

Third book I've read from her, all were hard to put down! Leaves you wanting more, can't wait for her next in this series, and Rebekah inspired me to buy a lottery ticket--hope I have the same luck as her.

I write for a living so I don’t have a lot of time to read, alas! I met Susan at a book signing and immediately liked her as a person. We had a very meaningful conversation and I couldn’t walk away without buying her book. From the first page, I knew I was in for a wonderful journey. Susan is a sublime storyteller, and her characters and plot lines just draw you in from the very beginning. I loved getting to know the characters, and was fascinated at how the story unfolded… and sad but exhilarated when it ended! I can’t wait for the second in the series! I am so happy I discovered this talented writer’s work. It’s the first work of fiction I’ve read in years, and was absolutely worthwhile in every way.
