I am the author of many books. I have been giving care for over 16+ years in Alzheimer's and Dementia. I found out I love working with the elderly and being a caregiver. I have worked in Memory Care Units, I have worked in State Facilities. Also, I started off as a Personal Care Assistant, Respite Caregiver and Hospice Caregiver. I have worked in every environment available. My mission is to give you a "peace of mind." I want to offer my wisdom and experience to the caregivers, families, and the health professionals who need to be certified / educated in Alzheimer's/Dementia. I want my students to feel equipped in the line of healthcare and to understand the Alzheimer's/Dementia client/patient. Lastly, to empathize with the client/patient and their families.

A Caregiver’s Guide to Alzheimer’s and Dementia by Alicia
Reid presents valuable nuggets she has gleaned from her 16 plus
years of experience as a personal and Board-licensed
    professional caregiver.
As a geriatrician who has worked with hundreds of savvy
seniors and their families impacted by this diagnosis, her guide
is a must have for anyone genuinely seeking to understand the
physiologic FAST stages of Alzheimer’s disease and the various
    types of dementia.
The Guide also emphasizes the DICE principles, a set of
strategies we geriatricians utilize to help caregivers identify and
manage behaviors emerge throughout the progression of
    dementia.
If you or a loved one are beginning your journey of navigating
dementia, I highly recommend this guide as a vital tool to
become a more knowledgeable and effective caregiver, ensuring
you can provide consistent and compassionate support every
step of the way. That way, your loved one can truly age like
    royalty!

I was my mother’s caretaker for the last four years before she died. In those years, I struggled to understand and care for a mother whose personality and realities changed progressively before my eyes.
I’d read several books and articles to help me work through those dementia years with my mom, but I wish I’d had this small but powerful guidebook by my side. It contained all the information that I needed each day in just 21 pages.
I especially appreciated the section on handling combative patients and how to work along with the person’s feelings, not against them. I eventually learned to just go with the flow of my mother’s changing realities, but I’d have reached that understanding much quicker if I’d had this helpful booklet.
Another helpful area of the book is the section on communication and keeping dementia patients active in their own care and in everyday activities.
This book is full of practical suggestions and tools that support a caregiver and, by extension, the person suffering from dementia or Alzheimer's.
