Michael D. A. Clarke believes that by adding in his initials and speaking in the third-person, he may come across as a real writer. In reality, he's not quite sure if he is a real writer as he has only written a couple of books. I mean, he did write them - so, by definition he's definitely a real writer, right? The question should be, "Is he a good writer?" That's for you to decide. But take comfort in knowing that Michael D. A. Clarke has been writing words since he was just 5 years old and has written many words since then.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of fun and frolics
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 5, 2023
This is the 3rd book by Michael I have read. They have all had different themes but all enjoyable in their own way.

This is an inspired twist on the Dickens classic.

Michael's style of writing is so easy to get absorbed into, you could easily read this in one sitting. The characters he creates are fun and relatable. I love the card system they use with uncle Dave, I'm sure we can all relate to a relative like that.

The story reintroduces us to characters from the first book but you don't need to have read it to be able to enjoy this one.

There are lessons learnt along the way and themes such as teenage angst, peer pressure and elitism are dealt with in a sensitive and realistic manor.

I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it to others.

I was pleased to meet some of the people from his first book, which I really liked. But the plot of this book does not require knowledge of the first book. The new story is pure fun and I almost read it in one sitting.
I'm looking forward to Mr. Clarke's next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Third times a charm!

After reading this Authors first book and seeing a sneaky first preview of his third book 'A Christmas Coral' situated within - I felt I needed more Uncle Dave in my life! I enjoyed his first book so much; I could not resist obtaining this one and it certainly did not disappoint!

This book has so much humour thrown in from the very start and continues throughout in a very creative way! The Fiction involved is very imaginative, but it is relatable to the characteristics of today's society which once again makes it easy to envision and engage with.

One of my favourite things about this author is his ability to make the reader speculate what some characters are like without hearing their side of the story, before then later indicating that there perhaps is a deeper meaning behind why they are the way that they are.... An introduction to a unique but believable character in Chapter 7 was a particular favourite of mine!

I look forward to supporting this author further towards his multi pack of Freddos by awaiting to buy his next book!!

"A Christmas Coral" is an absolute joy from start to finish! The characters are vibrant and lovable, each adding their own flair to the uproarious narrative. The witty writing style keeps the humor flowing, and the unexpected twists and turns make for a truly entertaining read. The blend of laughter, love, and holiday cheer is perfectly executed, making this book a delightful addition to my festive reading list.

I couldn't put it down, and the heartwarming moments balanced with the absurdity of the plot make "A Christmas Coral" a must-read for anyone in need of a good laugh and a dose of holiday spirit. Five stars without a doubt – this book is a fantastic gift to yourself or any fellow book lover!

5.0 out of 5 stars Based on a true story...

Nope, not really. Not as far as I know anyway. But certainly something you can imagine a group of teenagers doing and trying to get away with.
As always, well written. A whimsical interpretation of an old tale, with a couple of not so subtle references to previous works.
Maybe one day Michael D A Clarke will be as famous as Dickens himself.
