Review

"Being in love with the person you married is about as good as life gets. But life is rarely that simple, and the good is often found with the bad. Jeanie Wolfe's novel Murder At Misty Creek tells the story of a young, loving couple, Robin and Lee, and their experiences with the good and the awful. Lee is a local deputy in Starry Hill, a growing small town, while Robin is a vacation rental agent, and they're as happy as the two peas in the proverbial pod. This charming couple decides to buy a piece of land and build a home to have some kids instead of just kittens, leading to an encounter with a belligerent and angry future neighbor. When this same neighbor is found dead and buried on their land along with his dog, Robin and Lee find themselves looking for a killer among their new acquaintances. The problem isn't a lack of suspects; it's just that everyone they meet is one.

"Murder At Misty Creek by Jeanie Wolfe is
a simple and fluid murder mystery with a focused plot that is easy to get into. What is not so simple is the multiple themes underneath. Love features prominently in the novel, as does the pressure people feel in their daily lives and the struggles of trying to keep it all together. The story builds up almost immediately and maintains a brisk pace throughout the novel, which helps tremendously in engagement and immersion. As a story, it is neither gruesome nor gratuitous, and, excepting the murder aspect, could be described as wholesome. I don't think I've ever read such a cheery murder mystery before. Jeanie's characters are well thought out and developed. Each individual is unique and believable. Murder At Misty Creek is a solid whodunnit for fans of mystery tales, with a chocolate chip cookie recipe included as a bonus. What's not to like?" ~ Reviewed by Gaius Konstantine for Readers' Favorite

Robin and Lee are back, and I've enjoyed reading about their growth as a couple over the course of these four books. They're now married and looking to settle on new property, but all of that is halted when the dead body of a local troublemaker is found. Like the other three books, Wolfe does a great job at introducing many potential suspects and crafting a smart mystery for our main characters to solve. The side characters, especially Marq, are also very memorable. I look forward to book number 5!

Another great murder mystery for Robin and Lee who now, after three years of marriage are relocating to build a home in the mountains contemplating starting a family soon.
Upon starting the excavation fir the home, human bones were discovered stopping the excavation.

Murder at Misty Creek is book 4 in A Starry Hill Cozy Mystery by Jeanie Wolf. I enjoy having a series that has core characters move from book to book. I feel like I know Robin and Lee as they plan on beginning a family. I can picture the home they are building on their new land. Except this deputy sheriff did not expect to find a dead man and his dog on his new property. This author has a wonderful cozy mystery series going and I hope she writes more in the series. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Robin and Lee Kellerman married 3 years ago, and they are ready to start a family. Robin has a vacation rental business and Lee is a Deputy Sheriff in Starry Hill. Their realtor Evie Strange only lives about a mile from the property they will be looking at and the couple selling the property is retired and have overextended themselves and plan on selling off some of their land. The realtor says the husband used to sell motor homes and the wife is a beautician, she assured Robin that they are going to love both of them. They go out to look at the land and meet Marq and Kitty Parris, the owners, the land was so spacious, serene and quiet. They found the 40 acres at Misty Creek was exactly what they had dreamed of, and it was selling at a great price, so they bought it.

Carl Wu was the man to do the excavating according to Evie and Marq, so they called him for an estimate. Carl told them that Marq had been trying to sell the land for a while. They hired him to grade the land, install a septic system, dig the trench for the plumbing and electrical and to level a spot by the creek for a gazebo. Carl also referred them to another contractor to build a large pole building.

Moving day is finally here and they are so excited. While their log cabin is being built, they had bought a small RV from Marq. They only took what they could fit into the RV for now. On their way to their new home Robin was starting to worry about the steep incline up to their property and how weather would be so far from town. Plus, the RV was so small but then she realized it was only for a short time. They also ran across a man with a gun and snarling dog that told them to get off of his land even though it was an easement to use the road up to their house. Franklin Slater was the man's name and Lee tried to tell him who he was and that they had bought the property above him. He seemed to be drunk and not too happy and he had shot at them. Later Lee planned on calling in back up and arresting the man.

One day when clearing the land for the gazebo by the creek they discovered the body of a man and his dog. It turns out it was Franklin Slater and Ratchet, his dog. The dog had part of a label from a creme de menthe bottle used in making a drink called a grasshopper in his mouth. From the autopsy report the deaths were from ethylene glycol, methanol, and pyrene glycol. These are chemicals found in antifreeze and other products. Antifreeze was poison for both Franklin and the dog. Surely, he was not so drunk that he did not realize what he was drinking. It does not take much to kill a man and even less for the dog. Now they know that Franklin and the dog were both killed by someone. Now they had to find the killer before he or she struck again. Someone seems to have a lot to hide and killing again to keep the secret would not surprise anyone.

I got this great book from BookSirens and will be happy to leave my review.

This is Book 4 in the author’s Starry Hill Cozy Mstery Series. Book 4 finds our sleuths, Lee and Robin Kellerman, looking at land to build a home. After being married for three years, they are ready to start a family. They are excited to build a log cabin home after buying 40 acres of land near Misty Creek. Their excitement is short lived when a body is found buried on their property.

The body of Frank Slater and his dog, Ratchet, were found buried. Frank Slater was a mean man who was also a drunk and a thief. Deputy Sheriff Lee and Robin discover there are several people who could be responsible for the two deaths.

Readers who enjoy solving mysteries will enjoy this book. I liked the way Robin and Lee work together to gather clues to uncover the truths.

It has been 3 years since Robin and Lee were married and now they are beginning to build their dream mountain home. Boy oh boy do they ever run into a few obstacles. Absolutely loved this one. Learned something interesting about cars along the way too. Can’t wait to see what adventures are ahead for them.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Robin and Lee are planning on leaving Starry Hill and move to the mountains. A body is found on their new land. So they have another puzzle to solve. Nice and entertaining, a bit different than the previous stories but not bad at all.
I received an advance review copy for free and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.
