The Callaghan Brothers is a series, but I hold to my promise: no cliffhangers, ever. Each book is a story in itself, and focuses on a different Callaghan brother. You don't need to read book 1 to read book 2. The books are in chronological order, though (i.e., book 2 happens after book 1), so there are references in later releases to things that occurred in earlier books.

      This book had such enthralling non-stop action that I stayed up until 4am on a work night reading it. Taryn has been running from her abductor for 10 yrs and living off grid. A champs meeting has her working at Jake’s bar for a few days so she can earn some $. Their attraction to each other was instantaneous. Not just physical but almost cosmically. They felt it in their heart. I enjoyed watching them get to know and fall for each other. Taryn is a very strong independent woman who has learned to be cautious and keep others at bay. Jake is a large super alpha special ops guy who felt protective of her from the beginning. They make a great couple.
      The romance/courtship was strong in the first 55% or so of the book but then switched gear to be more plot and action oriented. That usually bothers me a little since it’s the romance part of books that I want. But this book was so well written with captivating plot and fun MC’s and sub-characters that I continued to be hooked. I highly recommend this book and can see me reading it again.

      I read this book as a Kindle Unlimited and loved it. The storyline is great and there are only very minor editing issues that don't distract from the story as they are few. From the moment you start, you are drawn in. As the first in the series, the stage has to be set since although these are totally stand alone books, the premise behind the croie or true love phenomenon is what will feed the other books.....and also the background on Jake and his brothers. While there were times I wanted to smack Jake upside the head with some of his actions and the other brothers as well.....it fit with the story. He resisted what his heart was telling him and that isn't unexpected given his history and that of his families. His mom died when he was a child. He was essentially raised by his dad only with 6 brothers. And even in his extended family (different series), there are two boys and only one girl so not a lot of female input into their lives. Then throw in that they are SEALs and now do covert ops....not a lot of warm and fuzzy here so he has to learn the hard way to trust his heart after he almost loses it. And Taryn too had to learn to trust again and be part of a family after her own tragedy. I have now read ALL the books in the series thanks to Kindle Unlimited as well as the Connelly Cousins books....LOVE them all. This is not my favorite of the series now.....but still a great read and holds a special place in my heart since it introduced me to the series. Since then I even went back and BOUGHT the books because I know I will want to re-read them over and over. I can't get enough of the tough, strong, loyal and loving men and their perfect matches. If only men like this really did exist! I wish there were more brothers because I am only sad that I read them all!

      I enjoyed the story. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narration was very well done. I appreciated that Taryn could appear fearless even when she waa afraid. The suspense started from the very beginning of the book. I spent time holding my breath as Taryn worked her way through the situation.

      I liked all of the Callaghan brothers as well as their Dad, Jack. The strange thing to me was that it appeared all the Callaghan brothers were in love with Taryn. Except maybe Michael and Sean. Jake seemed to have staked his claim so to speak. It seemed to me that Ian and Kane took their feelings for Taryn a little to far knowing how Jake felt.

      I got a sense that both Jake and Ian did not get involved in vanilla situationships. I also thought there was a convo about Taryn not being able to handle what Jake liked. I don't remember Jake ever having that particular conversation with Taryn. It made me wonder, why bring that up if it didn't seem to have anything to do with his relationship with Taryn.

      I did like the special ops factor. The sense of family and support. I kind of figured out what was going on with Taryn even if she didn't. I got the distinct impression that no one ever told her the truth. They all knew and she was kept in the dark. That just felt wrong to me.

      I found it to be an interesting read that kept me fully engaged and often on the edge of my seat. Now I am going to have to increase my TBR list with the rest of the Callaghan brothers books.

      Wow! What a way to start a story. Taryn was in hiding for basically ten years. Her car just happened to break down close to the town the Callaghan family lived. Taryn took a liking to Jake and it scared the crap out of Jake. All of his brothers took a liking to Taryn as well. Their father knew who she was but kept it to himself until she was in danger. The Callaghan family were a very tight fit family. As we near the end, Taryn end up like she was at the beginning of the book. Glad Jake and Taryn finally got their happy ending! FANTASTIC job Abbie! I would recommend this book!

Band gelesen - natürlich passiert vieles nach einem vorhersehbaren Muster, natürlich findet jeder der Jungs seine Seelenverwandte, natürlich hat man das so oder so ähnlich schon in diesem Genre gelesen. Trotzdem gelingt es der Autorin bei jedem Buch, mich zu fesseln, zum Träumen zu bringen, zum Mitfiebern und Mitleiden zu verführen, zum Lachen und auch ein bisschen zum Schluchzen.
      Ich ärgere mich über die Holzköpfe, will die Protagonisten schütteln, sie in den Arm nehmen und mit ihnen ihr Glück genießen…

      Fazit: wer Spaß an gutem Popcorn-Kopf-Kino mit Alphamännern und nicht weniger Alphafrauen hat, wer sich gerne entführen lässt, in eine Welt, in der Märchen wahr werden und die wahre Liebe immer funktioniert, der findet all dies in diesem wunderbaren irischen Clan!!!!
