NIKO: Licensed to Kill (Paris Intrigue Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 9 ratings

Zoey,

I'm sitting in a French safe house as I type this email. I'm eating caviar and drinking champagne with handsome government agent, Niko Reynard. He's wearing nothing but navy silk pajama bottoms, oozing mega doses of sex appeal. I'm in big trouble, little sister. He's kissed me several times and given me a foot massage that nearly caused spontaneous combustion. I'm feeling strangely virginal compared to the sexual prowess this thirty-year-old man exudes.

When I came to Paris for a bit of adventure, I never imagined I'd foil a bombing attempt, karate-kick two men, and run from terrorists while wearing a new pair of Pradas stilettos. I've met a German street musician, a gay poet from Australia, and the most delightful older French woman.

Don't worry. I'm safe...the jury's still out on yummy Niko, though. The more champagne I drink, the less reserved I feel. What an unforgettable fortieth birthday! I won't return to North Carolina the same sister you're used to seeing, but then wasn't that the purpose of this trip--to have a life-altering experience? Love you. Hug and kiss my niece for me.

"Sizzling Romance With an Edge."

Vonnie Davis is an international, award-winning author who likens herself to a freshly baked croissant: Warm, crusty, wrinkled, a tad flaky--and best served with strong coffee.

When she's not walking her Shih-Tzu, she hunches over her laptop bringing to life the men who strut through her dreams with a self-assured swagger. They end up in passion-filled contemporary, paranormal, or romantic suspense stories with strong dollops of humor. Vonnie's heroes are always that delightful blend of alpha male with a chewy chocolate center.

Her heroines? Feisty females who can bring an alpha male to his knees. They feel deeply, fight strongly, and never give up.

This proud grandma loves to travel to the settings of her stories. They range from the Scottish Highlands to Paris to all the beautiful spots found only in the United States.

A PAN member of RWA, you can find out more about her books at www.vonniedavis.com.

Go to Paris with Alyson as she celebrates her 40th birthday. Her plans are shot to hell when she saves the Mona Lisa. Her bodyguard is a sexy, chauvinistic detective who orders her not to go anywhere without him. Orders? I don't think so. Neither does Alyson. But when she's chased by terrorists, nearly killed, and someone else dies, she finally takes his warnings seriously.

Vonnie Davis delivers an action-packed adventure, with bits of crazy humor, and an intriguing romance. Alyson has some real hangups, thanks to her cold ex-husband. She's lost her enthusiasm for art, her one pleasure. Niko helps her find them again and her sexuality buried under years of emotional abuse. My only problem with the story was Niko. Sure, he's sexy as sin, and he really seems to care about Alyson. His ordering her about bothered me. Even though his intentions are to save her life, he's a smart guy. He should have learned that you don't order a strong American woman around. The best part of the story was how Alyson grew as a result of her adventure.

Vonnie Davis writes several types of books. This is one of her finest I loved the interaction between Alyson and Niko, loved his family, and other supporting characters. This is a well-written suspense that will keep the reader engrossed and wanting more when this one ends. I look forward to reading the next of this series!

I received an ARC of this novel. Now, usually I wouldn't give an ARC five stars. BUT, just the description of Paris alone, deserves each and every star. I've never been to Paris though I would love to, I feel now as if I've gone. Also, I may be the only American woman in existence who finds French men in novels not that attractive. Well, Niko is the exception to that rule.

I'll try not to give a full play by play of the novel. But the story follows Aly, an American tourist (and not some flouncing twenty something on vacation with Daddy's money) trying to overcome very adult complications from life. Things just didn't turn out her way, so she's making the best of it. She's likeable, relatable, and you root for her.

Niko is sexy without being overly so. He's a good man who when forced, can do very bad things.

They are thrust together through a circumstance beyond her control and from there ... it's a thrill ride of fun, suspense, and laughter. I say laughter because there is one scene (it involves a rope escape and the sort of hotel you'd hate to accidentally check into) that will stick with me forever.

Vonnie Davis makes NIKO: Licensed to Kill sexy and funny, thrilling and emotional, all with a flare that's uniquely her own. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Every woman would love to go on vacation to Paris... but add being chased by terrorists, a cocky bodyguard, murders, and falling in love it gets a little messy.

Alyson wanted was to see the Mona Lisa and that's were the trouble began for the recently divorced 40 year old. Her birthday didn't turn out exactly as she planned with Niko stepping into the picture.

Niko, her cocky bodyguard, and also 10 years younger shakes up Aly's world. Making her step out of her comfort zone and showing her what she had been missing while married to her jerk ex-husband. He builds her confidence up that she lost during her marriage. Niko is focused on investigating the terrorist group called The Red Hand but that doesn't mean he doesn't have time for seduction and shoe shopping!

With laugh out loud moments, quirky characters, a mystery to solve and terrorists to catch you can't go wrong with Vonnie Davis' stellar start to an Intriguing series. I can't wait for Jean-Luc story!

Alyson had always dreamed of going to Paris, so for her fortieth birthday, she does just that. She never expected to get caught up in a cloak and dagger situation, running for her life with a sexy French police officer named Niko. And Niko had never been one to get personal with someone under his protection--until now. What was there about this America woman that set him on fire?

Vonnie, you sure as the world make it hard for a woman to get to bed on time! Couldn't put it down! And I can't wait for the next one.
