1827, the Ottomans offer the Egyptians any part of Greece they can subdue, taking the people into slavery and replacing them with Muslims. The great powers are split, some like the Austrians support the Ottomans but three do not. The result is the battle of Navarino.

The tragic death of James Turner from Cholera places Marty at the head of the Foreign and Overseas Branch of British Intelligence. How will he cope with sailing a desk and what style of espionage will he bring to the service. Meanwhile his son James is carrying on the sailing part of the family tradition as part of the Ionian Patrol and develops a fascination for steam.
Intruige, war at sea and the entry of the marvellous new age of steam.

Well, I have read all 16 books in this series over the past couple of weeks and have enjoyed them all a great deal. Each of the books is packed with good story lines and plenty of action , enough to hold my attention and provide entertainment and enjoyment throughout. There aren’t really any complex characters or plots that would try your interest and they are quite ‘light reading’ in that sense. But they were nonetheless fun to read and a good selection of characters with very differing roles.

Altogether, a very enjoyable series of books - thankyou Mr Tubbs.

Possibly the best series I have read. The style is nothing short of perfect. The story has many characters that you can follow without getting lost due to the word structure and name repitition. I cannot explain the difference, it just is. However I have read many book series and can attest that the stories are amazing, captivating, educational, heart warming, sexy and well written. My only suggestion to the author is have the books rechecked for typos, they are not common but i found a few. And by the way i feel absolutely guilty that i was afforded the pleasure of reading the entire series for free through Amazon.

Ever since I started this series, I have enjoyed the action and especially the intrigue which can have more action and consequences than the action sequences. I always look forward to the next book in the series.

Continued characters holds you to the main story line. .
Movement through Eve is of the times is connected by the main characters.

Well written, though ended a bit lamely. If, in fact this is the last of the series, it is a sad day! There are many strings left flying.

Another excellent read by Christopher C Tubbs, interesting development of steamships and the usual historical action. Can't wait for the next in the series to be published

More antics and mayhem, worldwide. Well, not as far as Burma.
As usual, unputdownable. Go on you have to.
    A MUST.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable stories but spoiled for me by the use of wrong era language. English.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 12, 2024
These stories move along at a cracking pace and are very enjoyable to read but occasional use of words that are mid 19th Century and even 20th century in origin spoil the flow of the story for me. Worst of all are the Americanisms that are to be found too with the word 'gotten', a mid 19th century version of Got/Get appearing frequently. I found the phrase 'smart arse' in one story a little too modern and 'dosh' in another just two examples of many more wrong era words used. Perhaps a good dictionary may be of use. to the author. He has obviously done a lot of research to get his historical and technical details as near correct as possible. It is shame that he did not do the same with his 'english' Having said all of that I still reccommend the books as entertaining reads in which incredulity is stretched fpr the benefit of the plot without spoiling it. I have given every book 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 purely because of the errors in text. The Kindle editions are, as usual full of typos and the like but manageable after the odd 'double take'

4.0 out of 5 stars The story line moves on
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 25, 2024
A fan of C C Tubbs, this book sees Marty moving from his traditional sailing active insurgent role to one of senior support behind the scenes operative with a closer role to government but in the guise of intelligence working with Wellington for the clandestine good .
Other family members start to appear as we enter the 20th century, with changes to more recognizable modern construction methods.
I must say that I miss the more earthy Martin.
Non the less, the story is enjoyable as we move on ,.
I have found this book more difficult to follow as sometimes the joint between story lines and names are ambiguous.
Where will the story go next, I hope that Marty gets back to his roots but she and advancing time may change his role again,
Looking forward to the next book.
