Inferno, the latest installment in The End Is Here series, begins with a deliberate pace that skillfully builds tension throughout. The story vividly portrays the immense pressures—both natural and man-made—facing the City of Los Angeles in the aftermath of two catastrophic disasters, with a third waiting in the wings.

The novel introduces strong, compelling characters, each with powerful personalities that drive the plot forward. Damage from previous disasters sets the stage, and as the characters’ relationships develop, the action intensifies.

As the story progresses, the pace accelerates, leading to an explosive climax. The characters are relatable and well-drawn. Some evoked sympathy and others less so, but each played a crucial role in the unfolding drama. The writing is concise and purposeful, with no superfluous characters—each one contributes meaningfully to the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed Inferno. As a resident of Los Angeles, I found Inferno an engaging read. The author's portrayal of the city under duress was both captivating and thought-provoking.

A$on keeps kicking my reviews out so I'll keep it short and hope that I don't hit whatever it is that is triggering it:

Excellent follow-up to book 2. A barn-burner, page-turner, with a good mix of new and old characters struggling for survival in the wasteland that is L.A. I keep waiting for the shoe to drop on "Church of the One" but I guess that's a book or two away.

Ian's definitely one of my favorite new writers. Consistently readable, mixing interesting idea with action and memorable characters. Check this series out!

Inferno is the third novel of a series and as exciting as the two previous works. Lenny Small faces yet another Los Angeles disaster, but this novel hints at where the series is ultimately going. If you enjoyed the first two (and you should have), you'll like this one.
