Entertaining and enjoyable read. Tom Batrick is no Allen Lewrie or the like, yet an authentic, likable sort. Looking forward to more adventures and maybe a few seaborne when Tom sometimes finds family life a little mundane.

I'm always leary when there is hype that " if you love O'BRIAN and Aubrey you'll love this!" But, I find myself delighted and surprised. This was a wonderful escape into the past with relatable and likable characters! I was engaged all the way and will be looking for the next in series for further enjoyment.

The crew sings “Slent Night” on Christmas 1796. However it wasn’t composed until Christmas of 1818.
