The Star, within an enchanted tarot card deck. As its host, she’ll gain insight into the hearts of the marriage candidates recruited by her brother, Lord Winter.

The kisses she shares with Chazz Winterborn are magical, but is it true love? She’d better be sure, because if she doesn’t discover and marry her ‘one’ by Christmas, she’ll end up loveless, pining for a dead despot.

Jan believes the real world is much smaller than it should be, so she writes fantasy.

Her exhausted parents were happy all their fifth child wanted to do was create elaborate stories involving a pretend cattle ranch guarded by vegetarian dinosaurs and go on adventures with her stuffed teddy bear, creatively named Ted. She had the freedom to let her imagination run wild, and the savvy six-year-old took full advantage of it.

After winning the high school senior class title of 'wittiest' and getting out of college in four years (both equally astounding feats) she began her 30+ year career in advertising and marketing. Extensive work travel allowed her to indulge in her reading habit. It also sparked her first series idea: Rock, Paper, Scissors. A Young Adult Urban Fantasy which takes place in an alternate United States. All 4 books are chock full of action, a bit of snark and a hint of romance.

Now a full-time writer, she lives in her hometown of New Orleans. The city is its own character in the 22 book paranormal romance books she's presently writing. It features a variety of Supernatural creatures: Shifters, Weres, Vampires, Witches & the Fae. An enchanted deck of tarot cards adds a unique twist to the interwoven storylines of her G.R.I.T.S. series.

All Jan Mau Hill's books are fast-paced reads featuring smart and feisty heroines. If you like that sorta thing, these books are for you.

Having your house repainted is a funny kind of ordeal. You have to dislodge all your belongings as if moving to a new and exciting home, only to find yourself in the same old place again, except now it smells. That's been my life for the past week.

Lucky for me, one of my favorite writers came out with a new novel the other day, and as you can probably imagine, I tucked right into it like comfort food and devoured it in a day.

This time we follow the fate of Felicity Snow, a fae princess exiled to New Orleans, who finds herself afflicted with a funny curse. She must find and marry her one true love by the time another woman gives birth, who's expecting in three weeks, but you never know. There's six candidates at first, and Felicity and her friends, all of them paranormal, have a blast devising various ways to narrow down the field—fast.

The enchanted Tarot deck from the previous novels reappears here, this time granting the protagonist insight into her choice. But the real fun comes from having to plan a wedding when the bride doesn't even know who the groom is. She has a favorite, of course, but Fairy is notorious for its twisted politics, and the course of true love doesn't always run true...

As always, Jan Mau Hill delivers a snarky, fun scream of a novel that somehow turns into a sweet love story by the end. Just the break I needed from a stressful week.

Weddings are beautiful AND crazy, especially if magically ordained by forces beyond anyone's control. Brides can identify with the uncertainty and excitement of taking those vows....forever!!!

The books in this series continue to get better with each offering. Jan creates wonderful characters for each story trying to find love within the supernatural community on New Orleans. Vivid characters wrestling with issues that are so very human, with the spice of extra intrigue from their supernatural culture. Truly a joy to read and I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Felicity Snow, a Fairy exiled from her clan, is living a quiet life as a librarian surrounded by her loyal and unique friends when her brother, Aiden, appears out of the blue and tells her she was cursed to never find her true love by the now deceased Lord Winter, tyrant to his clan. There is a loophole, however. If she can marry one of six candidates chosen by her brother, the curse will be broken. A paranormal "dating game" begins with three challenges cooked up by Felicity to narrow the field. Who will win the Fae maid as three contestants rise to the top: Boothe, Simon or Chazz? And can Felicity trust any of the Fae for whom secretive mind games and half-truths are a normal pastime? I especially enjoyed this third book of the series and highly recommend it for its sweet romance, humor and true to life descriptions of its New Orleans setting.

This is book three in a series which is preceded by "Unlikely" and "Ungainly. In "Unknown" we learn more about Felicity, a banished Fae whose past is full of sadness and loss. She has filled the emptiness with wonderful human and non-human friends and is overall happy...but still with a feeling of loss. Then her brother suddenly shows up, whom she hasn't seen in years, with an explanation for her banishment and a dire prediction if she doesn't marry before Christmas! While not necessary to enjoy this book, reading the first two in the series will help put pieces in place. Quick, enjoyable reads that I highly recommend.
