Sam is a third-year associate in the prestigious law firm McGowan, Talbot, and Brown in the St. Louis financial district. While Lydia is another upwardly mobile millennial and rising star in her own right. It highlights the importance of love and relationships among life's challenges and uncertainties. The plot involves César, a cunning street hustler who connects people with illicit goods and services. He thrives in the city's seedy underbelly, operating out of an old warehouse for clandestine rendezvous. Mike and Cathy introduce their friends Sam and Lydia to this dangerous underworld, leading to a chaotic night at a sinister club where powerful figures are offended.

It's implied that these women will likely be resold or exploited further, their fates completely beyond their control.

Sam's desperation to save Lydia is crushed by the brutal display of Baba Yaga's power. The staged execution breaks his spirit, highlighting the vulnerability within the system and the lengths Baba Yaga will go to maintain control. Who will win between love and evil?

    I can't remember any boring part of this book, every paragraph is filled with senseful thoughts from the author, creating a masterpiece that is truly worth reading. The transition of JD from a navy seal to a civilian already sparked my curiosity. Imagine that military men are exposed to the horrors of battlefields, intrigued me a lot on how it would work if he is a blues musician and eventually a nightclub owner. Sounds interesting already right? We have the same sentiments.

    Furthermore, the quality and content did justice to the promising book plot. Every chapter was filled with thrilling moments which gave me a stir of emotions. There are times that I would want to turn the page already of the book to the next even if I am not yet finished with the present as I am so eager to know what's next. However, I did not do so as not to miss every detail of the story. I suppose you hate spoilers as much as I do. So, I suggest reading every part and never miss a thing! You'll thank me for this as JD has lots of exciting moves and dialogues. Well, he is a very mysterious and unpredictable character making him a perfect protagonist for a genre like this.

    When it comes to the action part and the climax of the story, the author has been very generous. There are moments that can keep your heart pounding really fast. The way, the script was delivered for the characters is realistic enough to give you a general view of what's happening while you are reading. Overall, this book is an entertaining read and will not make you fall short if you want intense action scenes minus the unnecessary fluffs.
