    In Pamela Writes’ book, More Grace, the reader reflects on the roller coaster of emotions on this ride that one calls life. Noting that childhoods shape us all in ways unrealized until adulthood, her book follows the successes and failures that reflect deeply rooted perceptions and memories of abuse shared by siblings. While Olivia eventually finds dealing with the past unbearable, Jilleen and Vince are left to pick up the pieces. From Mandy’s encouragement from an angel in an obgyn waiting room to demons that work hard to bring her down, the resulting concentric circles leave way to sink or swim depending on depth of faith. Even Miranda, the counselor working with the siblings, has her own struggles. Like everyone else, all are pushing towards that light at the end of the tunnel, both earthly and heavenly outcomes.

    The 2nd book in the Inside Out series is really good! The reader gets drawn in and can relate to some aspect of each of the characters. Suicide is a taboo subject, but it is a topic that should be discussed. The author, Pamela Nichols, did a good job in presenting the subject of suicide, and challenging the reader's perceptions and beliefs on suicide. Great job!

    The emotional and spiritual saga of the Calderon family unfolds in layers of intertwined connections, revealing the questions, complexities, and struggles on the path to “more grace.” From the initial trauma and pain experienced by the Calderon family with three generations of abuse, Olivia, Jilleen, and brother Vincent hold fast; some more fragile than others. As Vince loses one sister and gains another, their past impacts their existence and relationships; yet, sometimes angels are wonderfully sent when most unexpected, literally offering Hope.

    Pamela Nichols weaves a tapestry of modern, empathetic characters, revealing their trials, destinies, and a universal search as they strive to surpass the odds humanity so often faces today— suicide, abuse, divorce, dementia, depression, and fertility.

    The stage is set in the shower in the opening passage; prose descriptions launch the reader from this “holy sanctuary,” a “ literal barrier from the rest of the world,” headlong into the “slippery situation” of what lies within.

    Jilleen and her tempered moments of truth, Pastor Vince leading The Return to Light support group as his marriage is betrayed, Mandy yearning for motherhood at last, Janet falling down the rabbit hole of hazy dementia; all provide a glimpse into the ultimate path of everyman and the varied obstacles so many face today. Angels and imps pop up at the most unexpected moments in this narrative, lending complicating antagonism or a guiding hand sometimes when all seems lost.

    With all these fascinating stories going at once, Mandy notes, “You have all you’ll ever need.” There is much to reflect upon in Nichols’ latest addition to the Inside Out series, as she leaves the final thought, “You will never be the same. This is true. There will be bad days, awful days. But you have to sit with it. Acceptance is the key.”

    This is a great read. I was hooked with the introduction and was drawn in further with each page. You can genuinely feel each character's struggle with issues that are very current today.
