The Tiger's Roar (The Mark of the Tiger Book 2) Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 1 rating

Minerva Edmondson is missing, along with two of her faithful servants.

Oliver has sworn to find her but is thwarted by his evil father. It takes all of Oliver’s time to keep Rumah Kebun out of Reginald Barrett’s hands, and to stop him from harming other family members.

Reginald’s avarice doesn’t stop with the Edmondson plantation, but encompasses his brother, Crispin Barrett’s possessions.

When Minerva discovers herself on a pirate island not far from Singapore, she is surprised, but a far greater shock awaits, as her life takes an unimagined and unbelievable turn.

After nearly twelve years, the question remains, will Oliver find her?

Minnie is standing on a precipice…

Minnie is standing on a precipice…
This book is aptly named as Minnie not only survives the tragic loss of her family and her old life; she endures tremendous amounts of pain and abuse as she tries to eek out a life amongst the thieving world of pirates. Her two trusted servants do all they can to help her; but there’s only so much they can do. However,Minnie is a surviver and certainly no coward. She is strong and fragile at the same time as she strives to cover the scars both seen and unseen. Somehow, Minnie not only survives she flourishes; but not without a price.Read doesn’t sugarcoat anything as her writing is crisp and descriptive while setting the tone for this part of the story. Minnie proves once again she’s not afraid to push beyond her limits., in fact she makes a place in this man’s world in which she finds herself. The author’s descriptive writing style is one I have come to enjoy through the Thornton Mysteriesand it is very much in evidence with this series as it flips back and fourth from Singapore to the surrounding jungle and on the seas of the pirates. My favorite character? Omar! My heart just pounded when we met. The story weaves through 12 long years of heart clenching moments, tenderness, memories and nightmares. The story is fast paced and breathtaking with scenes that had me either laughing out loud or tightly clenching the book. Minnie is standing on a precipice and the price of revenge is always high.I have read all of this author’s books. Now, I have another favorite. I’m looking forward to reading the third and final book, The Tiger’s Revenge. One more thing, don’t skip the Author’s Notes, the map or the glossary as these will set the stage and add to your reading pleasure.A Roaring ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
