About the author

George writes wholesome books. He grew up in Southern California and lives in Northern California, in an old stone house. He spent his life teaching elementary school and loved to teach kids to write. 𝑀𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑡 was started in 1975, but was put aside for years. George's creativity didn't stop, and for almost 30 years, he programmed, marketed, and supported grade book software for elementary teachers. 𝑃𝑎𝑟𝑡𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑊𝑜𝑙𝑓𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙 is a chapbook of poems about the canyon in which the novel, 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑊𝑜𝑙𝑓𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙, takes place. 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑆ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑊𝑜𝑙𝑓𝑠𝑘𝑖𝑙𝑙 is the first book of the Wolfskill Trilogy. Book 2, 𝐴𝑖𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑁𝑜𝑟𝑡ℎ, available now. You can learn more about George and a Family of Writers here: HTTP://graestonewriter.com

- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2023A slender collection, Mr. Beckman’s poems call to mind much encompassed by the Welsh term hiraeth, the mix of nostalgia colored with sadness for what’s been lost, for those people & places of memory no longer existing. And in his poems, subtle flashes of pain-tinted anger over the tragic loss of a past due to the destruction of eminent domain.
Of the collection, These I Know No One Got, Hark Back, & And Then resonated especially strongly for me. Haunting. Lovely.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2021Mr. Beckman recounts a past that was lost by eminent domain. Through is poems, we can feel the beauty of the valley, the hard work that went into making it a home, the joy of childhood, and the tragedy of loss. It is said that one can't go home again, and physically that is true, but Mr. Beckman takes us back to that time and place through his poetry.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2022I really enjoyed this fast, concise poetry collection. A slim volume, there's still tons of emotion in this collection of nostalgic poems. The images are easy to envision and the emotions of a lost childhood are something everyone can relate to.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2021Mr. Beckman’s poems “wrenched my heart” a few times. Wistful, nostalgic, quite thought-provoking about the downside of eminent domain and its impact on the people displaced
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2022I found Beckman's poems to be both charming and melodious. My favorites were "Side Trip" and "And Then."
