    Gabe (or Buck, as he preferred to be called) doesn't believe that the woman who married him by proxy is really his bride because she's not how he pictured her. Bethany needed to leave her home because her drunkard father's cronies are coming around and trying to have their way with her and she's always having to take her siblings and hide whenever their father is home because she's protecting them from his harm. When Bethany's uncle tells her about Gabe, she's hesitant about marrying a man she's never met, but her uncle tells her what a great man Gabe is. Gabe is the guardian of his three nieces, but his mother and sister don't think he should have been made guardian of the girls and files paperwork to take them away from him. That's why he decides to go along with Bethany's uncle's idea and agrees to marry her. That way, no one can take his nieces away. Very sweet story.

Bethany decides to marry.him by proxy. She makes her decision off a letter her Uncle sent her about Buck, and his neices, it would be a good place for her to be in these times after the Civil War. Having never met each other, she steps out in faith. There are challenges to make as they meet and try to trust each other. Find out what happens in this delightful book by Kimberly Grist. A great read anytime of the year. Are they a good Holiday love match? A must read. I received this book as a gift, and all words are strictly my own.

    A lovely, warm story of loneliness, love and compassion. Buck needs a mother for the nieces he's raising, and Bethany needs a husband and home.
    A beautifully, well written book and one you won't want to stop reading till it says The End!

    I loved this story! Those girls are just adorable! And I especially loved how once he started to fall in love, he kept saying things like, "She awakened me from a deep sleep, revived my shattered heart, and now I can’t bear the thought of living without her.” So romantic!
