On Warmer Shores Kindle Edition
I travelled 1,000 miles to find myself - instead, I found you 🥰
Vince
Watching the love of my life, Theo, fall in love was the hardest thing I’d ever endured. Especially as it wasn’t with me!
For years, I’d planned our wedding, but when he announced his engagement to a man I detested, I thought my life was ending.
Silver-edged invitation in the bin, I took advantage of my friend's offer of a villa in the South of France. All expenses paid. I’d be stupid to turn it down.
So, I packed my bags and jetted off to a sun-soaked paradise to lick my wounds.
A disastrous evening out and I’m introduced to Sylvain, the silver fox I never thought I needed. Only now, he’s agreeing to be my date to my ex-best friend’s wedding.
A disaster waiting to happen? Or will he be the Prince Charming to my Cinderella?
And with only one bed to share…what could possibly go wrong?
On Warmer Shores is an MM standalone novel, featuring an age-gap, a fake boyfriend and only one bed. A delightful holiday read with food fights, and of course a HEA!

About the author

Alex is an MM author from the NW of England. She's married with three grown-up sons and two Tamaskan dogs, her night time companions when she's writing into the early hours!
She writes gritty, realistic, mainly contemporary romance but always with a happy ever after.
Her tagline? Finding Forever - One Chapter at a Time.
An avid reader, she started writing one lunch break, writing her first book in no time at all. From there, her passion grew and The Nava Dance Studios series was born. Her writing style has changed, a darker feel creeping into her work and while she doesn't profess to be a dark author, she covers some socially dark subjects.
She'd love to move somewhere sunny with a beach view, continuing to write about her perfectly, imperfect men.
Follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Bookbub.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2024Poor Vince. He has watched his BFF, Theo, that he has been in love with forever get engaged to the worst man possible. He does what a lot of us do and runs away, he just happens to run away to a beautiful villa in France. There, bad things happen to Vince, but he is saved by suave, older Sylvain. He is the epitome of a debonair French gentleman. Read along as Vince struggles with his insecurities, getting over the fight with Theo and accepting that Sylvain is attracted to him.
Sylvain is an older man that knows what he wants, Vince. But he will be his friend and support until Vince gets onboard with a deeper relationship. One aspect of the book hit home with me due to Vince's mother having dementia. This book turned out to be sweet while dealing with seeing a friend and his true colors, taking care of an ill parent and falling in love over the course of sanity break vacation.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2024This is the first book I’ve read by Alex and I enjoyed it. It’s a sweet romance about Vince who decides to go on a vacation after learning that the man he is in love with is getting married to another. While on vacation he meets a hot silver fox. The chemistry between Vince and Sylvain is so good. Slyvain is much older than Vince but he wants nothing more than to give Vince the relationship he deserves. This was seriously a cute romance and I loved the tension between them. If you are looking for a sweet MM romance that’s a quick read this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2024If you are looking for a perfect beach or vacation read, then On Warmer Shores is the book for you. This book is a love story that so many of us can relate to. Vince suffers from emotions that many people have dealt with. Whether it be disliking one's body, jealousy, or just the way life treats us. Sylvain is an older man who has experienced a full life and finds that love can turn up when you are not expecting it. Together these two make an unexpected but unforgettable couple. Their story really brought out many emotions for me and had me cheering at the end. Another beautifully written story from Alex J. Adams.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2024So good to see the underdog come out on top. Don’t often see low self esteem in stories, but this turned out to be an excellent example of what a boost to confidence can mean to the person dealing with it. Fun story. Always did like the age gap stories and of course the HEA.

Mourning the loss of the love of his life and best friend after hurtful words were spoken, Vincent heads to the south of France to take stock of his life. Feeling fat, unlovable, overlooked, and taken for granted, he unexpectedly finds himself the object of compliments and interest from Sylvain, a handsome, silver fox Frenchman. Unsure what this gorgeous man could see in him, Vincent can’t help but be drawn to him. When Sylvain offers to accompany him to his friend’s wedding, Vincent agrees, with the hope there may be something more behind the offer. As the relationship between them develops in France, then long distance in the weeks until the wedding, Vincent’s self-confidence grows. Perhaps Sylvain is the person meant for him.
This is a coming of age/coming into himself book about Vincent and the image he has had of himself for so long. For the first time in his life, someone actually seems to see him, to find him interesting, to find him attractive and funny, to care for him, and Vincent finds Sylvain changes how he sees himself. Sylvain sees changes also, finding something he really hadn’t been aware he was missing caught up in his corporate life. Together, there is the chance for something true and lasting.
Realistic, relatable characters, Vincent’s reactions to his friend come across as very real and natural and the relationship between Vincent and Sylvain develops and deepens slowly at a pace comfortable for Vincent. The story held my interest, I was invested in Vincent and the growth he made, and Sylvain’s impact on Vincent made me smile. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it if you want a book to make you feel good at the end.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2024An MM romance of unrequited love. Vince has secretly been in love with his best friend Theo for years but has never even been on his radar as an option. Vince currently dislikes Theo’s latest boyfriend with his snobbish and smug ways. When Theo insults Vince and then sends him a wedding invitation, Vince needs a change of pace and is given an opportunity to escape to the South of France. Sylvain manages a resort and helps the drunk guest that just got robbed. As they spend some time together, will they both find something neither of them expected?
I’m not sure why I didn’t enjoy this story. I didn’t feel any chemistry between the characters and although the self-esteem issues of Vince are struggles most of us deal with, I found it to be annoying at times. I didn’t understand the attraction between the two MC’s but I did appreciate the overall message about loving oneself and finding that person that makes you feel appreciated and want to be a better person. 5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect light summer read
If you’re looking for a lighter, low spice read this summer, this sweet age gap holiday romance definitely fits the bill.
Vince is such a lovable character and one I think many people will relate to. He’s an adorably quirky, awkward young man which lead to some humorous moments in the story. His self esteem isn’t the greatest and he’s been crushing on Theo for so long that he’s never even dated. Add in some extra weight he’s determined but failing to lose and his view of himself is less than stellar.
His world turns upside down when Theo announces his engagement to arrogant Glen, so a getaway to France is the perfect opportunity to distance himself.
Enter Syvain, the sexy, confident, but kind older man who Vince keeps literally running into or sees when he feels he’s at his worst.
Syvain sees beyond his clumsiness to the person inside and finds himself drawn to Vince. He is completely smitten and protective, taking things slow knowing how inexperienced Vince is.
I loved seeing Vince’s confidence grow as he spends more time with Syvain. He begins to see himself through someone else’s eyes, yet the changes he begins to make in himself are ones he’s wanted to make for a while.
As always, Alex J Adams delivers on a story with a happily ever after that left my heart full and happy.
