Judging Duke (Liverpool Boys Series Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 42 ratings

Duke

Life is good.

It didn’t used to be.

Shame, prostitution, abuse - you name it, I knew about it.

I finally felt I could move on, and get my life back on track. I had a stable job and a very healthy sex life. Then he sauntered in, large as life, and everything went to the wall.

Old feelings reared their head and I couldn’t forget him, no matter how hard I tried.

I hated him. Loathed him. So why did I want him so badly?

Simon

Life is good.

It didn’t used to be.

Guilt, depression, anxiety - I knew all about it.

I was doing well. A thriving business, bucketloads of cash, and finally, a light at the end of the tunnel.

But a chance meeting and he’s back in my life again, sending everything into a tailspin.

I hated him. Loathed him. So why was that kiss all I could think about?

When Duke and Simon meet again sparks fly. First hate, then lust. Can they finally put the past behind them and move on together? Will Simon ever stop judging Duke for the mistake he made?

Judging Duke is the fourth and final book in the Liverpool Boys series. Enemies to lovers, this is a darker romance with a HEA. Can be read as a standalone.

For me, this is my favorite book in The Liverpool Boys Series. Duke and Simon are electrifying! Judging Duke is an amazing enemies to lovers story. The emotions between the characters are palpable. You can viscerally feel the anger, disgust, lust and longing.

Alex J Adams did a fantastic job with all the main characters as well as the supporting characters, giving them all depth and meaning that wove beautifully into this wonderful love story.

Duke and Simon had a history, hate on Simon’s side, regret and shame on Duke’s. Fifteen years have passed since the last time they saw each other, but the feelings haven’t changed. Unfortunately, neither has the physical attraction that both felt then and now. As they keep bumping into each other in random places, the need grows until they have to decide if there is a chance to set the past aside and see where it goes, or walk away and wonder what might have been.

Two complicated, relatable men, trying to deal with fifteen years of hate and regret, with experiences in their lives that are similar but the circumstances totally different, trying to reconnect and chase the spark that never disappeared, yearning for the fire that could flare with their joining, if only they could learn to move on, to forgive themselves and each other, and accept what fate or chance has in store for them.

The story flows naturally and the relationship seems realistic in the sense they are meant to be together and somehow find a way to accept the past and set it aside for the future. I got very involved and invested quickly, moving toward a satisfactory conclusion. An enjoyable read.

Alex brought her A game again. This is another amazing story that reaches into your heart, pulling at ones heartstrings. It's also a sad day knowing that this is the end of the Liverpool Boys series. I enjoyed the banter between Duke and Simon. You could feel the hurt and pain they both have suffered. Yet, they made it through all their encounters. Each one makes it easier and easier to talk to one another. I do have to say, there is a certain couple in the story that touched me deeply. Bravo Alex!

    5+ read

After an accident with his best friend Duke, he took off. No one saw or spoke with him for 15 years. With the exception of his sister.

Duke had a rough life in that time. He, however, pulled himself out of it and was working at a high-end hotel. That is where he runs into Simon. Who still hated Duke.

Talk about enemies to lovers. Simon and Duke were just that. I loved Barbara. She cracked me.ip with her driving. I had a few moments to the. I got emotional.

This well written heart felt story will leave tou thinking at times and make you wonder does he really believe that or think he should. When an accident leads to mosundersyandings worries and blames, finding out all the truths is important before you judge, and once you have truths it may lead to the same or differing opinions. Its shows you that you may also need to make self judgements and sometimes these could be in the wrong or perfectly correct. When you decide to look at your judgements will they be right, wrong or misconstrued? Can you change for the better by reflection, or does something need to jump in front of you and make you and make you take a moment to think?
Has thebright amountbof angst for the trope enemies to lovers. It also all the feels of a second chance, the the perfect amount of heat, steam and spice for this slower burn. Visits from some of our favorite liverpools boys. And a great way to end the series. Kudos to the author for hitting all the buttons on this one.

This was a great addition to the Liverpool Boys series. Duke and Simon have quite the history and it was interesting watching them crash together after such a long period of time. I will say that I felt that this was the least dark in the series so far and didn't go into quite the mental spiral that some of the previous ones have. Both Duke and Simon have had difficult lives in different ways. After a horrible accident, Simon felt that he needed to take care of his family and carved out a life that while financially was great, it seemed that it fed into his anxious/depressive nature. I will say that I think we didn't get too much information on this as it was just kind of touched upon a couple of times. I would've loved to have had more about his ups and downs during that time. Duke ran away from home and ended up in a terrible situation at his aunts house. We do end up getting the full story there, and it could be triggering so please head the warnings ahead of time.

While I'm glad that these two were finally able to have a civilized conversation and push past their initial clashing...I kind of wish that I also got to see more of Duke and Robbie interaction. Robbie was his best friend and he hasn't seen him in like 15 years. All of that interaction happened off page (or just about). Also, overall, this is a pretty low heat story. I'm not sure I felt the initial chemistry between these two but once Simon was in, he was in and I liked how the two were there for each other.

I’ve loved every book in this series and Judging Duke was no exception. Duke and Simon are wonderful characters and their story was everything I’d hoped. The emotions, heat, some angst and glimpses of past characters all made for a terrific read. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic enemies to lovers story

I LOVE the enemies to lovers trope and Alex J. Adams knocked it out of the park with Judging Duke!
The push and pull of the hate and lust between Duke and Simon is so intense when they meet years after the event that caused the animosity between them!
The attraction they had for each other as teenagers came flaring back every time they ran into each other but so did Simon’s anger and Duke’s regrets.
Simon is so full of resentment towards Duke but has no idea what his life had been like after he left for Liverpool and Duke had no idea that Simon had gone on to become a very successful porn star.
The results were some very intense exchanges and I never knew whether they’d be clashing fists or tongues from one scene to the next. Fate just kept putting them in each other’s paths until they finally stopped fighting the inevitable.
I loved how their relationship developed as they both opened up to each other and dealt with the past.
And you can bet that the spicy scenes were off the charts hot between these two VERY experienced men!
