Loving Liam (Liverpool Boys Series Book 3) Kindle Edition
Five years. That’s how long it had been since my life as I knew it had ended.
Others that had suffered a similar fate, had fallen on their feet. They had the perfect life and the perfect partner, but I wasn’t bitter. No, not me.
Who was I trying to kid? I was as bitter as hell.
Because while their life was perfect, mine had fallen apart. Holding down a job was nigh on impossible. I’d been in and out of rehab so many times, I didn’t even have to tell them my name.
I used to be someone’s little, now I was just a nobody, a nobody that belonged nowhere. Or that’s how it felt.
How hard could it be to forget my past? Damned hard, that was obvious.
The real problem? I wasn’t sure I had it in me to care anymore about me or anyone else, but when Detective John Palmer turns up, offering to help, I wonder if he’s what I’ve been waiting for.
Time is short. Hours, minutes and seconds are running through my fingers like sand in an hourglass.
Can he stem the flow? Can he be the one to give me what I need, what I desperately crave? Only time will tell.
But when my past catches up with me, I’ll need him more than I ever thought possible.
Loving Liam is the third book in the Liverpool Boys series. It can be read as a standalone but it may be advantageous to read Saving Ziggy first.

About the author

Alex is an MM author from the NW of England. She's married with three grown-up sons and two Tamaskan dogs, her night time companions when she's writing into the early hours!
She writes gritty, realistic, mainly contemporary romance but always with a happy ever after.
Her tagline? Finding Forever - One Chapter at a Time.
An avid reader, she started writing one lunch break, writing her first book in no time at all. From there, her passion grew and The Nava Dance Studios series was born. Her writing style has changed, a darker feel creeping into her work and while she doesn't profess to be a dark author, she covers some socially dark subjects.
She'd love to move somewhere sunny with a beach view, continuing to write about her perfectly, imperfect men.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2024This author definitely knows how to bring the heartbreak and turn into a wonderfully broken story that will make you feel like you are apart of the words and the outcome. Liam's story is no different and with the trauma in his life, he needed someone that would pick him up and show him that life go beyond anything he has experienced and help him through it all. Detective John Palmer was just that person, his compassion for Liam was apparent. Even though Liam will always have this darkness within him, Detective Palmer is there for him in ways he's never had. I loved this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2024I enjoyed the first book in the series and was excited to see Liam get his story. I enjoyed the insight that was written in the story that showed Liam’s thinking and why he made certain decisions. If you struggle with the miscommunication trope, this may not be the book for you as it happens multiple times. I enjoyed the build up of their relationship. I had a hard time with the resolutions of the miscommunication. Liam just forgives John for treating him poorly and that does not sit right with me. I wish more time had been spent with them working it out. I liked how the author handled the build up of their relationship given the trauma history as well as their history together.
This book would be difficult to read as a standalone and I wouldn’t recommend it. You would be missing too much information.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2024I was so happy when this book was announced. I didn't quite see it going this way, but I loved the development of these characters and their relationship. Finally the HEA that Liam deserved.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2024Loving Liam by Alex J. Adams is the 3rd book in her Liverpool Boys series. It is an angsty story between a young man who had been abused and the police officer who was on his case. Liam had been beaten and almost died from his previous Daddy and has been on a life altering course since then. He couldn’t get over what happened to him and became an addict, was depressed, and had very few friends. He was barely surviving with the help of his friend, Drew, and worked at his hair salon as well as lived with him. Detective John Palmer had been one of the police officers on his case after he had been beaten. But that had been 5 years ago. John was obsessed with his work and it came first in whatever he wanted to do. But a chance meeting with Liam when he needed his hair cut changed that. He was attracted to Liam, and when he saw the shape he was in, he was ashamed that he hadn’t followed up with him as he was a nurturer and care giver at heart. He then started to text Liam and finally asked him out for dinner. Liam hadn’t had any long-term relationships in the 5 years since he was hurt and felt he was unlovable and that no one could give him what he needed. He decided to give John a chance and that dinner started a spark between them. John was not a Daddy, but the more he got to know Liam, the more he was willing to try to be what he needed. Meanwhile, his abuser who was currently in prison was told he might be sent to one with minimum security and John had to tell Liam about this. When he did, it sent Liam into a downward spiral, but he was there to catch him. Then some other things happened that indicated someone might be out to silence Liam and John knew that he and his partner had to solve this mystery. In the meantime, Liam and John were getting closer and decided to become boyfriends and this in turn led to some very hot love scenes. In the end both men had changed for the better with the love they had for each other and became much happier and were able to live their lives the way they wanted to. I enjoyed this story. It was quite angsty and in some places suspenseful. Liam was such a lost boy who had the ghosts of his past chasing him. It was wonderful that he stopped taking drugs and wanted to make his life better, even though he struggled to do this. John was just who he needed, even though he also had a lot of self doubt. In the end they were able to help each other become better versions of themselves. Drew was a great friend for Liam as well as the ones he reconnected with after they had been hurt. John’s parents also added some levity when they came to visit. And the bad guys who hurt Liam were very bad and it was a relief when they found the person who was trying to hurt him again. I also liked the ending where John and Liam were able to forge the life they wanted together in a joyful way. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like slightly darker age gap love stories with some suspense, hurt/comfort, and bad guys that get what they deserve, as well as 2 men who realize they are just what the other needed to find happiness in their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sexy, romantic story with all the feels
Having met Liam as a side character in Saving Ziggy, I was so excited to hear that Alex J Adams was writing his story! While Loving Liam is a stand alone in the series, reading Saving Ziggy first will give you more background about Liam and make his story more enjoyable.
Liam was a side character in that book who was a little and wound up being a victim to some predatory bad guys. Five years after those events, he’s still alone, been in and out of rehab, and struggles trusting people, but he misses the care of having a Daddy.
Detective John Palmer re-enters Liam’s life with questions about a current case, one that’s eerily similar to the one from 5 years earlier, and the connection between them is undeniable.
I loved Liam’s bratty side that enjoyed pushing John in hopes of a spanking and while workaholic, strait laced John has no experience with daddy kink, for Liam, he was willing to try. I’ve read very few books with daddy kink, but Alex J Adams did such an amazing job telling this story and really opened my mind to its appeal.
From John’s insecurities about his body and the age difference between him and Liam, to his fears of hurting Liam while learning how to be his Daddy, these aspects were all well written and handled in a realistic, sensitive way.
Liam’s trust issues and battle with addiction also adds realism to his character and the story as a whole.
The roadblocks and hurdles they encounter as their relationship develops is perfectly balanced with light moments, emotion, and spicy scenes that I absolutely loved! And of course, Alex J Adams, gives them a wonderful, feel good happy ever after!

5.0 out of 5 stars 🥰
This is the third story in this series and I’d definitely recommend you read at least book one, Saving Ziggy before starting Loving Liam. This is a Daddy kink story and not my usual cup of tea but I was interested to find out what happened to Liam after the events of Ziggy’s book. Liam is still picking up the pieces of his ruined life years later when a chance meeting with John finally sees him on the road to HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great addition to the series.
I’ve loved this series so far and Liam’s story was a great addition to it. I’m so glad he got his own happy ending and John was perfect for him. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liam needs a HEA
💕 Liam’s story is a sad one. We met Liam back in book 1, a little who was badly beaten and left for dead. Detective John Palmer was on the case at the time.
I’m sure like most readers, we all wanted to know what happened to Liam after that story, wishing for his happily ever after.
5 years have passed since then, and we finally get to see Liam’s story. The emotions stirred are so deep and heartbreaking when we think back to how Liam used to be such a happy young man. Since then he’s hit rock bottom, more than once; but has never given up. His strength and determination, though barely holding on, are an inspiration.
6 months sober now, he has a job and runs into John again. A man much older than him, who has given up on finding someone to spend his life with. Together, they find a beautiful place where they fill each other’s missing pieces.
But Liam’s past won’t let him be. He just wants to live in peace, away from the demons that haunt him. Away from the devil who almost killed him, who left him with scars, both physical, mental and emotional. Watching Liam try to process the possible return of this monster, and process it badly, is devastating. Can Liam and John get through this together while their relationship is still so new?

4.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming his trauma.
MM. Age gap, Daddy/boy, Kink, Romance. Third book in the series and while it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone the MC's met in a previous book and the backstory does run throughout the series. A fast paced plot with lots of emotion, past trauma, angst, heat and drama. Guaranteed HEA.
