Across Oceans Through Time: A Story of Enduring Love Kindle Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

Italy’s past and America’s promise collide in a love story that defies the distance.

After her mother’s death,
Serafina Cicconi spends her young life caring for her family in the Marche region of Italy, navigating her father’s strictness and her brothers’ playful chaos. As she shoulders the burdens of family life, Serafina dreams of escape, freedom, and perhaps even love—a hope that seems distant and impossible in a land where tradition often holds women in place.

Albasio Volpini has returned from the battlefields of World War I to a country scarred by loss and struggling to rebuild. Determined to start anew, he sails to America with dreams of prosperity and the chance to make a better life for himself. Yet, as he navigates the gritty streets and prejudice of his new home, Albasio ‘s life is turned upside down by a photo of a young woman. She becomes both his anchor and his dream and a reminder of his homeland.

Separated by continents but bound by a love as enduring as the hills of Italy, Serafina and Albasio navigate a world marked by change, loss, and uncertainty. Through letters and fleeting connections, they forge a bond that defies time and distance. Will Serafina's strength and Albasio’s determination be enough to bridge the gap between them? Or will hardships and political unrest pull them apart?

A sweeping tale of resilience and romance, Across Oceans, Through Time captures the courage of two hearts determined to find each other across oceans and years.

I was born and raised in a small historical town in northern Ohio. After having lived in various parts of the United States and for a short time in Germany, my husband and I have found our forever home in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina.

I have two grown daughters, two lovely grandchildren, and a husband who supports everything I do no matter what it is.

When I'm not writing, thinking about writing, or plotting my next novel, I'm busy preparing a telephone Bible Study that’s I've been doing for years.

A long-time lover of romance novels, I would like nothing more than to sit on a deserted beach somewhere sipping iced tea and reading to my heart’s content. My husband and I travel to visit family and friends in my hometown where I browse and delight in my favorite library.

Words almost fail me. Serafina and Albasio's story leading toward the second world war was heartbreaking. Serafina at 17 stood firm against all obstacles to live her chosen life with the man of her choice. Her strength of mind carried her through family and government difficulties until she accomplished her goal. I don't recall reading a book that affected me more than this one. I highly recommend this fiction based on the author's known facts of her grandmother's life.

If you like history, romance or just a good story you should read this book. I had never learned much about Italy and its history. I did not know much about Mussolini and what people during that time may have gone through. This story about some wonderful families, struggle s and love is inspiring. It helps me appreciate our country and the freedom here. It helps me understand a few of the struggles ancestors may have faced coming to America. One of my co-workers grew up in Youngstown in an Italian family so this is an even more interesting story to me. I did not want to put the book down but some sleep is required.

The love, devotion, & faith are such a good example of an aspect which once made this country great.

I was unprepared for the suspense of this story. The fact that it was a true story made it all the more poignant. I learned a lot of history too. Well worth a read.
