A Hope Revealed: Prescott Pioneers Book 4 Kindle Edition
Pain. Disappointment. Fear.
Life turned out differently than Mary Colter expected. With her abusive husband either missing or dead, and the ranch gone, she is left to raise her two children on her own. When a neighbor takes compassion on her, she finds her hope ignited—perhaps she can start over on her brother-in-law’s ranch in Arizona.
Warren Cahill is confronted with one problem after another in his new role as foreman of Colter Ranch. Missing cattle and hot-headed cowhands take most of his attention. When Mary arrives at the ranch, tensions rise and he finds himself in the middle of it.
Will Mary’s hope for a life free from abuse finally be realized? Can Warren move beyond his past to embrace a new hope?
In the mid-1860s, these pioneers to Prescott, Arizona Territory have big dreams for their future. Will the cost be worth it? What heartache awaits them on their journey? Will they lose their faith?

About the author

I love writing. Whether it is contemporary cowboy romance or historical fiction set in my beloved state of Arizona, my novels always tell an engaging story of flawed characters in needed of second chances, redemption, or they must overcome personal trials. I love finding ways to weave real history and real settings into my stories.
My husband, Jim, and I live in Gilbert, Arizona with our two dogs, Bella and Daisy. We enjoy traveling throughout the state finding new adventures which often end up influencing the stories I write. We also are very active at Rock Point Church in Queen Creek, Arizona.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2012A Hope Revealed, the 4th and final in the Prescott Pioneers series is simply outstanding.
The story that is shared is about a woman who has been battered and abused and looking with all hope to start over again. Mary Colter, Will's sister-in-law, along with her two children have been on their own for nearly two years. Her husband, Reuben, simply disappears one day. She is actually releaved but fearful that he may still be alive as the body has yet to be found, and return to reclaim her, his property. As Providence would have it, a way is brought to light for her and her children to begin to begin again at Colter Ranch. But little does she know that instead of running away from him she is running straight into him.
Mary Colter arrives at the Colter Ranch to find that there are mixed feelings of the reason she has come. She tries to explain but some especially Julia is not ready to listen. Julia Colter, now Larson, has been a recipitent of Reuben's wrath, Mary's husband. She blames Mary for not standing up to him and helping her when she was in need and for allowing him to do the things he did to her. Little does Julia know that Mary has been living through her own hell and has been just as abused as Julia. But there is hope. Hope that she can begin again, that she can dare to hope that Reuben will be found dead and she can start to live again, love again. But not long after arriving, she is introduced to an intriguing gentleman that upon looking at him knows full well he is not who everyone thinks he is but unexpectingly and frighteningly it is her supposed missing or dead husband.
Reuben, Mary's husband, disappeared a couple of years ago to rid himself of the debt he was in since Julia wouldn't marry someone of his devising. He lost everything, the Star C Ranch, the house, the land. He was angry. Not to mention, his creditors were also after him. But he has since surfaced and actually fairing rather well. He is actually the one from Book 3 "A Life Restored" that robbed the stagecoach that Caroline Larson was on leaving her abandoned to be picked up later and killing the rest of the men on the stagecoach. Well, he has been devising this plan to seek his revenge on his brother, Will and his sister, Julia, since Will took half of the Star C fiances when he left and because his sister wouldn't marry his choosing so that he could get out of debt. He is bent on revenge and things are going just as he planned. He was taken back also that his wife along with their children would be here at the Colter Ranch but he handles it just as he always has with manipulation. He finds what Mary is wanting most, a divorce. He lures her to believe that he would grant this if she remains quiet because when they meet although disguised as someone else she knows him right away but afraid to say anything. She agrees to meet with him in town and to her fear, he agains uses and takes advantage of her disgracing her once again. She is told to keep quiet or else, the children. She has to keep quiet for the children sake, doesn't she?
The story continues brining again romance along with hope. The story is written beautifully, just as the others in the series. Filled with hope and love. Oh, and those tear jerking moments. Many things are woven into this novel that form an incredible experience. A woman seeking a better life for children and herself, a young boy learning to live without his father only to discover him but to lose him again, the agony of a loved one being kidnapped and learning to lean and trust in divine help, learning to accept and forgive. The Colter and Larson family and friends show us that things are not promised to be easy in life that struggles and hardships to occur but that we are not alone. Intricately woven in this saga, is that God never leaves us and is always with us through good times and sad times as well as difficult times. Their is evil in this world. There is a controversy going on for which we are just puppets and the scene must fully play out as the character of God in question. The evil one must be allowed his season for all to once and for all that the character of God may be vindicated. God is in control and always has been but He must allow things to occur for the purpose of a bigger picture. Remember, lean not to our own understanding it is quoted.
I don't want to give more away than I may already have. But I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series and admittedly sad to come to the end. I look forward in the future that may be written by this author in a similar fashion. I would not hesitate to make the purchase not matter the sum. You will not be disappointed!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2013Mary Prescott is working her fingers to the bone trying to support herself and her two children, Eddie and Beth, since her husband, Reuben Colter, left them. Every time a dead man is found she is asked to come and identify her husbands body, the problem, so far none of them have been Reuben so she continues to live in fear that he'll return.
One night after the children are sleeping she hears a knock on the door, as fear grips her, thinking it is Reuben returning, she answers to find a strange woman. This woman reveals a secret about one thing Reuben did to her that she never knew about, a new low for Reuben even. A few days later Mary is told that her father secretly left her some money so she makes a decision to move west to Will Colter's, Reuben's brother, ranch hoping if Reuben does return he won't know where to find her and the children.
It isn't long after arriving that she discovers she isn't safe at all. Mary will do anything to protect her children, even if it means not telling Will everything. When Will finds out what she's been hiding he to kick her out of his home but Hannah, his wife, won't let him do that.
I think this is the best book in the series, I found myself with tears running down my cheeks several times. Oh the things Mary had to go through in her marriage and the things she found out about her husband that she never knew, but she kept her strength and moved forward. You really do need to read the whole series, I think anyway, to get the full impact of this book. In the first three you only get a glimpse of how hard it was being married to Reuben Colter but you need that to realize just how mean a human being he really is.
I would definitely recommend this book, this series! I really enjoy Karen's writing and will be looking for more books from her.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2015This was the perfect ending for this series. It wrapped up the stories from the first three. The characters are well developed, flawed and likable. There is suspense and plenty of clean romance and deep love in this story. It is well written and a good entertaining Christian historical novel. Hoping to find more books by this author. By the way it is best to read them in order, but they can be read as stand alone novels.
