One American Billionaire + One Irish Pub Owner = Trouble

Burned by betrayal, Jax Caldwell, golf’s answer to Henry Cavill, needs a break from the spotlight. He didn’t expect to find it in the form of a busted Porsche on a muddy road leading to the edge of nowhere: Ballybeg, Ireland.

The only vacancy in town is a cramped room above The Banshee’s Rest, a crumbling pub owned by the fierce, breathtaking Deirdre Gallagher.

Dee has no time for spoiled American playboys, no matter how sinful their smiles—she’s too busy trying to save her family’s legacy and protect the village from developers hell-bent on paving over their lands.

As sparks fly and their slow-burn attraction threatens to boil over, old betrayals resurface—ones that could cost Dee her everything, and Jax, the woman he’s fallen in love with.

The author has given us another unique story to read, don’t you just love it. It’s hard to pick out what I love the most about the book: Jax, who exceeds my expectations from the small but important role he played in another story; Dee, the fiery, loving and stubborn owner of the pub in the village we visit; or, the village itself, a little one lane village in Ireland with all of its quirky and funny inhabitants.

This time the village won for me but it was close to a three way tie. Even if there wasn’t a great romance and an outstanding and very special male lead I would have enjoyed the book just watching all the villagers razz and care for each other. Dee was the heart of the village and you enjoyed watching her fight her battles and slowly give her trust to our wonderful Jax. I don’t think it would have mattered how long it took, Jax would have been there tearing down the walls around her heart with lots of laughs and caring. She and the pub were the center of the village and we get to see so many of them interact in their daily lives. The author’s writing made me feel like I was standing with the characters, seeing the views, walking the fields, visiting a place unchanged by time, and laughing out loud at all of their antics and arguments. We Irish love to have a good disagreement, sorry, discussion over just about anything.

Dee is so funny with her bristling comments and acerbic wit. She is also so wounded by the sorrows she has had to face in life so far that she has walls around her heart. Don’t worry Jax is one of a kind and stubborn in his own right. He is looking for his one and will move at whatever speed or with whatever prods Dee needs to open her heart. There is some angst and a danger to the village but go into the story looking for an experience you haven’t had before because you will get that.

Find a seat at the bar or a table, watch and feel for a little while what it’s like to live in a community that still believes it takes a village to raise a child and the importance of taking care of and standing up for each other. I loved the story and know I will be pulling it out for re-reads when I want to experience it again.

I usually read a Maya Alden book with the expectation that I’m about to get my heart broken a little. This was a wonderful change of pace for me - I appreciated the male lead bringing a hero, rather than a betraying jerk in need of a redemption arc. Still got a bit of angst, some light revenge on a cheating ex, and an HEA, but with a more light hearted storyline.

What a Fantastic Read! Jax was the best book boyfriend you could ever ask for. We first met him in No Ordinary Love, where he is the loyal friend to Amara, and now he finally gets his moment to shine—and wow, does he ever! Maya does such a wonderful job of weaving familiar faces into new stories, giving us glimpses of past characters that we are still invested in!
Jax is a golf pro who risked everything when he decided to go against his family expectations and play golf rather than go into the family business. However, things aren’t exactly going his way. After a disappointing charity golf tournament, Jax finds himself driving a friend’s Porsche through the Irish countryside… until it breaks down near the enchanting village of Ballybeg and things start to turn around!
Ballybeg is a small town full of heart, rich history, and unforgettable locals. Unfortunately, it’s facing the threat of destruction to make way for a shiny new golf resort. Maya’s descriptions of the village and its people are nothing short of stunning—I could picture every lush green field and the steep cliffs. I felt like I was there as a visitor in Dee’s bar based on Maya’s amazing storytelling.
Ballybeg is where Jax meets Dee, the tough, no-nonsense pub and farm owner with walls built sky-high after a painful betrayal. She’s not interested in Jax’s charm—or so she says. But Jax is patient, persistent, and quietly romantic as he works to earn her trust. Their chemistry? Off the charts.
Will Dee let her guard down and take a chance on love again? Will Jax prove he's worth the risk? You’ll have to read it to find out—but trust me, you won’t want to put this one down.

Swoony, small-town sports romance full of witty banter, simmering tension, and the kind of heartfelt moments that stay with you long after the last page. Maya Alden delivers a cozy, steamy, emotionally layered story set in a charming Irish village that feels like a hug with a splash of whiskey. Jax Caldwell might be golf royalty, but beneath the fame and fortune is a soft, cinnamon-roll soul who’s just trying to find some peace—and he finds it (reluctantly) in the fiery Deirdre Gallagher. Dee is all sharp edges and fierce loyalty, and I loved her from the jump. Her devotion to her pub, her village, and her values made her such a compelling heroine. Their dynamic? Chef’s kiss. A perfect grumpy/sunshine slow burn. The tension builds deliciously with every encounter—from awkward pub run-ins to cozy domestic moments in a crumbling room above the bar. And when the emotional stakes rise, it hurts in all the right ways. The Irish village setting is a character of its own—quirky, stubborn, and full of heart. Between the meddling locals, family secrets, and the looming threat of greedy developers, there’s just the right balance of external conflict and inner growth. And of course, Alden brings the emotional depth and swoon factor she’s known for. If you love stories with heart, humor, heat, and heroes who fall first and hard, this one’s for you.

Tee’d Up For Trouble is the perfect cozy, emotional escape—with just the right amount of spice. I absolutely adored it. 🇮🇪⛳🔥

Well, what can I say. What another fantastic book by this fabulous author Maya Alden! Tee'd up for trouble did not disappoint. Not only did it have my absolute favorite trope of O/M O/W drama this story was truly beautiful. Slow burn, he falls first and hard for her. A small rural community coming together to overcome not only saving their beautiful village but embracing Jax (Yank) as one of their own. I loved Dee she was feisty and one tough cookie. Side characters we also so good in this book. You feel like you know all of them. Couple of sad moments but once again cannot express how wonderful this book is. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you, Maya, for giving me the privilege of reading this book before it comes out. I have my pre order lined up for when this comes out. Well done Maya!

Jax!! We first saw lovable, book boyfriend Jax in No Ordinary Love.

Tee'd Up For Trouble is a fun romance with a sweet HEA.

While stranded in a small town in Ireland, Jax meets feisty bar maid Dee. Jax origionally called "The Yank", works his magic on the villiage and on Dee.

He falls first, as the walls around Dee's heart come tumbling down, they join together to save the picturesque village from developers. Jax found his HEA in the most unexpected place.

I love that we get a few mentions of Amara from No Ordinary Love.

You can almost picture the beautiful scenery of Ireland while reading. I really loved Jax and Dee story and couldn't out it down. I have already re read it. Grab a copy and a tea, you won't be disappointed

Ahh this was fun. It’s a grumpy (her) meets sunshine (him) romance where opposites attract. The story takes place in a tiny Irish village where pro-golfer Jax has wound up accidentally. He quickly falls for the feisty owner of the pub/inn, Dee…but also for Ballybeg and its citizens. While the Irish charm is working overtime on Jax, his Southern charm is winning over all he encounters.

There’s threats to the idyllic peace of the town, a puppy vs snake standoff, a slimy ex-boyfriend, Irish swearing and a host of characters who will steal your heart. I always love it when authors add references to their other stories and Ms Alden does this really well. It’s a sweet story that will make you dream of rolling Irish hills.

    4.25⭐️

Jax’s whole world shifts when his borrowed sports car breaks down on the backroads of County Clare. He finds refuge the wayward but tight community of Ballybeg. Dee and her quaint pub are the heart of the community and it doesn’t take Jax long to fall in love with rolling hills, the mischievous locals or the fiery red head in charge.

It was beautiful witnessing Dee and Jax slowly fall into each other. They are the perfect balm to the other’s edges and Jax’s southern charm is equal parts hilarious and swoon-worthy. This very much feels like a love letter to Ireland, as well as all these bedroom communities falling prey to development and deep pockets.

I had such a great time in Balleybag and I hope you will take a chance on its lush landscape when it releases.
