To Have and To Hold: Arranged marriage stand-alone (BRUTAL VOWS Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 27 ratings

Arranged marriage, age-gap, forbidden love, enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, Romeo and Juliet vibes, family saga, Mafia/cartel romance, Slow burn, Redemption, Morally gray hero, dangerous romance

The Roríguez cartel is spinning out of control, tragedy putting the alliance and our future in question.
I’m Emiliano Ruiz and throughout the last few years, I’ve witnessed my sisters being doled out to members of the Luciano Mafia. The cartel has also taken famiglia women. It doesn’t matter if it’s the Luciano famiglia’s turn to take a bride.
My mind is set—it’s my turn.
I never imagined marrying a young bride until I caught sight of Isabella Luciano. She’s only eighteen, and with her long yellow hair and big brown eyes, she’s a vision to behold. She sees me, however, through the tinted lens of her father’s hatred.
Carmine Luciano’s disdain of the cartel and the alliance isn’t a secret. His opinion won’t stop me. I’ll prove to Isabella that even bad men can be good husbands.
No matter what her father says or what happens in our war, Isabella will be mine.

Review

"A beautiful ending to another one of my favorite series! To Have and To Hold is Izzy & Em's story and it is simply DELICIOUS! I read slowly, devouring each word and all the non-stop action. I didn't want it to end, and yet, as I approached the end, I had to keep turning the pages, desperate to know what would happen! Aleatha Romig's rich, sumptuous descriptions completely captivated my mind and carried me into the story from the first chapter to the last word"~ Chris, 5-star Goodreads Review

"Just when I think I couldn't love an MMC from this series more than Jano, along comes Emiliano to prove me wrong!
Another thing I love about this book is the suspense. With each page, you wonder what is going to happen next. Aleatha has such a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat. I literally read this in one sitting, because I wanted to see what was going to happen next.

This is the last book in this fabulous series, and I'm honestly heartbroken about that. I've grown to love these characters so much, its hard to say goodbye to this mafia/cartel world that she created. But I can't wait to see what new world she brings us next." ~ Jennifer, 5-star Goodreads Review

"The Brutal Vows series has been incredible throughout and To Have and To Hold closes this series perfectly. Aleatha Romig certainly knows how to write Mafia romance - creating stories with fabulous characters and compelling storylines every single time." ~ Literary Lust, 5-star Goodreads Review

"Mafia romance at its best.
I loved seeing Isabella grow from a scared eighteen-year-old girl to a strong eighteen-year-old woman. When she first agreed to come to San Diego to help her cousin Mia with the apartment, she was a bit overwhelmed and scared. But with the help of Emiliano(Em), Liliana and Mia she grew up very quickly and is not only not scared but she is in love. In love with Em and what she does at the apartment and California.
Emiliano knew the minute he laid eyes on Isabella that she was going to be his wife, love at first sight. I loved how protective and loving he is with her, the complete opposite of his scary job with the cartel.
Loved all the suspense in this as well. Great ending to this series."
~ Juli Hall, 5-star Goodreads Review

"To Have and To Hold is a fight between love and hate-
Isabella has lived a sheltered life. Em has lived a life becoming a high-ranking cartel member.
Em wants a chance with Isabella, but she wants nothing to do with him.
When Isabella finally realizes all the lies, she has been told, she decides to live her life- regardless of the consequences.
Em and Isabella have great chemistry, and their connection can't be denied."
~ Somer Grey, 5-star Goodreads Review

Aleatha Romig brings her fans the long-awaited conclusion to the Brutal Vows series, To Have and To Hold. This final book not only culminates the intricate family connections and love stories that have captivated readers throughout the series but also provides a profound sense of closure and completion, leaving readers satisfied and fulfilled.

The Luciano Family tree is a complex web of interconnected relationships. It starts with Anthony, who had Vincent (Capo de Capi). When his mother passed away, Anthony remarried and had two more sons, Salvatore and Carmine. Vincent had two sons, Dario and Dante, and a daughter, Mia. Salvatore's children, Marisa, Aira, and Vincenza, are in their teenage years. Carmine's children, Isabella, Noemi, and Anthony, are also in their teens. This intricate family tree is the backdrop for the compelling stories that unfold in the Brutal Vows series.

The Roriguez family comprises Jorge (El Patron), Josefina, and their sons Alejandro and Reinaldo.

Lieutenant Andres Ruiz is the second-in-command in the Roriguez Cartel. He and his wife, Viviana, have three children: Catalina, Camila, and Emiliano.

To Have and To Hold narrates the unique and captivating love story of Emiliano Ruiz and Isabella Luciano, a tale that defies all odds. Despite her parent's disapproval, Isabella, with the help of her cousin Mia, discovers that the Mafia, Cartel, and Bratva are not as different as they seem. I highly recommend reading this series; start with Now and Forever, Dario and Catalina's story. Then, Till Death Do Us Part, Mia and Alejandro's story. Bound by a Promise is Dante and Camila's story; next is Queens and Monsters, Reinaldo and Jasmine's Story. You won't be disappointed after reading To Have and To Hold. Have you been Aleatha'd?

This book was so good! Isabella is part of the Luciano family and her father has told her that the cartel members are bad, horrible people and to stay away from them. Kinda funny coming from her father since the mafia does the same thing that the cartel members do.

Since it's the summer and Izzy has graduated high school and her father won't permit her to go to college, she goes out to California to help her cousin, Mia, with the tenants at the apartments since Mia is still on maternity leave. When she goes to California she gets to spend time with Emiliano and she discovers just how sheltered her life has been.

Izzy enjoys her time at the apartments and working with the tenants, it takes her a bit to get used to looking past what their jobs are, but she looks past her parents prejudices and sees the women for themselves.

Emiliano falls for Izzy the instant he sees her at his sister's place in Kansas City for his niece's first birthday and is happy to find out that Izzy will be out in California for awhile. He takes it slow with her when he realizes how sheltered she is and helps her to see that the cartel and mafia are the same.

Their friendship slowly morphs and they go on a tour of San Diego where Em shares his feelings and tells her his intentions. Things move fast for them but of course there are obstacles. Love is never easy for the cartel/mafia alliance.

This story was awesome. I'm only sad to see this series come to an end. Hoping for more of the side characters to get their HEAs, I was really hoping for Lilliana to find love!

Just when I think I couldn't love an MMC from this series more than Jano, along comes Emiliano to prove me wrong!

Isabella Luciano is part of the Luciano Mafia family. Her father hates the cartel and has been against the alignment since day one. Izzy has heard nothing but lies about them, and avoids anyone from the cartel at all costs. It isnt until her Capo sends her to San Diego to help her cousin that she realizes shes been lied to.

Emiliano Ruiz is a Lieutenant in the Roriguez Cartel. He never thought much about marriage until he meets Izzy. Once he gets to know her, he realizes that he will never want anyone else.

The sparks between these two are so dynamic. Especially once Izzy realizes that not everything her father said was true. Em is kind, loyal, generous and above all, he tells her the truth. He encourages her and supports her, and its a beautiful thing to see how much Izzy grows and learns throughout.

But I cant wait to see what new world she brings us next.
