BIOGRAPHY

Amanda Steel was born in Bradford (UK) in 1979 and now calls Manchester her home. She always enjoyed writing as a child. One teacher even told her parents that English was the only subject she was good at.

She now enjoys writing online articles, short fiction, poetry and more recently longer works such as her novel 'While I was gone' which can be found on Amazon as well as some of her individual short stories.

Amanda can either be found sat in front of a laptop, with her head buried in book either for research or study purposes or occasionally at the cinema (to get inspiration of course).

      • All the time. It's like therapy. I change names and details though. I only use real life as a starting point. By the time I'm finished, none of my characters represent any real people I know.

      • I've already written various genres. I know I'm a publishers nightmare, because many want you to be established in one genre before switching (if at all) but I come up with ideas in my head and sometimes they are different genres. I've done Women's Fiction, Horror,, YA and Fantasy. I'm currently writing a short story about gay aversion therapy, and a futuristic sci-fi novella. Maybe I could try Historic Fiction one day.

      • Earning a full time living from writing. Even though I don't write for the money (good thing too!) but I'd love to spend all day, every day writing. Unfortunately, the only way to do that and still eat/pay bills etc is to make a living from my writing (or live in a cave with free electricity for my laptop)).

      • I started writing when I was a child. I recall folding a load of scrap paper into a makeshift book and rewriting fairytales to make my own book. Although, I hope my writing has progressed since then.
