Short bio or SYNOPSIS here on writing as your passion.
I have been writing since middle school. I just thought about doing it for the world to see it just recently. I never thought about becoming a writer until I actually wrote and completed my first book of my three part book...my personal memoir. After that....I just continued.
How long have you been writing and what inspired you to do it seriously?
I actually started writing poems while in middle school as a release from the childhood I had. My mother was actually singing a gospel song early one morning and it gave me the inspiration and the title to write my first book about myself.
When choosing a name for your characters, what do you consider about them that determines what you finally call them?
I research the names of my characters of my books. I want unique names and names that have meaning so I pick a letter and google and google until it sticks with me.
Did you have a collection in mind when you were writing them?
I just write with no particular thing or plot in mind. If a plot comes to me or a name of a book, I write it down. I have a lot of titles and plots that are unfinished. I bounce back and forth between them so I won't get bored.
How did you choose which stories to include and in what order?
Whatever story that I continuously want to complete or the story that I cannot put down then that is the story that I choose to complete first then so on and so forth.
Do you have a “reader” in mind when you write stories?
I am writing Christian fiction now so the only reader I have in mind is the reader that will that particular genre which I find are quite a few compared to my regular urban fiction novels.
What do you do to get book reviews? what is the best review you ever got?
I give away free books for reviews as well as post a lot about the importance of leaving a review. When I gift books, one of the stipulations require the reader to review the book within a certain time period and I keep a list of claimed books now.
My first review on my first book was my best review and the one I will always remember.
What does the word “story” mean to you?
events or actions that involve people or a person that may be imaginary or real but is for entertainment or inspiration.
What are you working on now?
I am working on about 5 Christian fiction novels which one will be dropping soon called YOU AIN'T BOUT DAT LIFE. I have names but don't want to reveal it until I am closed to completion like You Ain't Bout Dat Life is already completed but in editing.
Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
I write when I can and if I am out and am not next to my computer and ideas come to me, I write on my QuickMemo pad on my phone which looks like a sheet of paper so I can record it later. I have an app on my phone that reminds me to write daily as well.
How do you promote your work? How Quotesrain help you in your book promotions and sales, would you like to refer this platform to your author friends?
I have paid promotional services as well as promote my own work thru various avenues such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pintrest. Quotestrain does a lot of work for me on the back in thru Twitter and Facebook. When I am not promoting then they are so that works out well for me and can work for any authors who are just starting off and have no idea of how to reach the massess...
Would you like to share something with your readers and fan?
I am actually quite shy but I love when I can help others and I am eager to share any information that may help anyone. No matter what life paths they are on. You can say "I'm just an open book". Feel free to reach out to me about anything.
