I am an audiologist turned teacher who enjoys writing books for children. I am also passionate about baking, have a huge monkey collection, and enjoy traveling with my husband of 32 years. I find inspiration for my writing everywhere: through our travels, the children I work with, family, friends, and our adorable feline friends.

      • Interesting question. My mother bought each of us a 'School Days' memorabilia book when we started school. This book has pockets in it to store award certificates, class pictures, etc. There are lines to write the names of your best friends, your favourite subjects in school, etc. The line that stands out right now was the one with the statement 'When I grow up I want to be___________.' For years you can see written in my handwriting 'author and a cartoonist'.

      • More than once. 'What a Bath!' was inspired by my son asking me while he was taking a bath when he was three years old, "Mommy, what happens if you go down the drain?" 'Kydee' is based on all the real-life antics of the rambunctious stray Mongolian kitty we adopted. One of the picture books almost ready for release, 'Mamas Don't Murf!' is full of real-life stories.

      • Having to pay a publisher for anything to have your book published. If they believe in the story enough to offer you a contract, they should cover all the costs.

      • My love of books inspired me. I love to write and I love to draw. Writing books is a way to put all that creativity energy to work! I have been writing since I was 11 years old. I won a Christmas story contest several years in a row when I was young. I wrote my first novel. 'The Miracle Chimp', when I was 13. Everything was on hold while I pursued two university degrees and my first career as an audiologist. When our daughter was 6 and our son was 3, 23 years ago, I really started writing again. But, many of the stories I had published were written in the last four years.
