An outstanding page turner!!
The three main characters in the book; Darren, Joel and Grace are all teenagers. The author has clearly brought out vivid and clear illustrations of what really affect our lives. Parenting, family, friendship, Love, Money, Betrayal and Death.
With Parenting, there are no real answers, instinctually you do the right thing; it happens the way it's supposed to, you just have to do the best you can. it's the greatest journey. We see Joel being raised by a single mother, Darren coming from a rich family and Grace from a Christian family.
Joel lives with his mother while his sister Sophie being adopted because the mother is not responsible. Joel has to fight for is survival to make ends meet, in his journey he endures betrayal, hatred, love and friendship but at last love and friendships wins. Eric and Theo being his great friends, help him in his life, while Love bringing the best in him by marrying Grace and starting a family.
Darren lucks moral uprightness and integrity, being raised from a well to do family and being the bright student in his class, he feels special ruins his friendship with Joel and Grace, his love for lust also makes him lose his dad while being with Sophie.
Grace being raised in a Christian and also being a good student in class, she feels her parents distancing themselves from her after the death of his twin brother Leroy, this affects her and she feels lonely with no one to share her feelings with, she ends up finding consolation in Darren and Joel. She later fall in love with Darren and becomes pregnant, this affects her relationship with her parents. Darren later takes Hope from Grace and this affects her the most, though she discovers that she is pregnant again with Darren, Joel decides to marry her and start a family.
