BIOGRAPHY
I am a filmmaker, writer, poet, and artist, amongst a slew of other things. I am the definition of multi-talented. I am known most by my family and friends as being the creative, adventurous, and intellectual one. My unlimited adventures, jobs, and residences in the United States and abroad are so many even I have trouble recalling them all.
I was born Michael James Leedy in Mansfield Ohio in 1962 and grew up there in the countryside, as well as spent a short three-year hiatus in the small Village of Bellville Ohio, and 6-month stint in Ashtabula, Ohio.
My life's biggest tragedy came early on, at 19-years-old, when my best friend was killed in an auto accident. Had he not died then, I have every reason to believe we would have eventually became lovers.
In my early 20s, I served as a Yeoman in the U.S. Navy on a large Aircraft Carrier. It was one of my greatest adventures and where I met my new best friend who is still my best friend today.
After three years in the Navy, and many residences and jobs, I moved to New York City and worked as an Executive assistant in various notorious NYC companies. It was at that time I changed my name to Gio Leedy.
At 36-years-old, nearly 14 years after leaving the military, I rejoined the Navy. After attending Basic Electronics school for a year in Great Lakes, Illinois, I moved to San Diego and worked as a Yeoman on a small Navy ship.
At 42-years-old, I began pursuing writing as a career.
At 53-years-old, I began working in film as a subject, writer, editor, cinematographer, and associate producer under filmmaker Jason DaSilva.
In 2018, at 55-years-old, I published To Be His Life- When A Straight Man Strays, and Raven’s Poetry under my pen name Raven Chandler.
My life story is the biggest story of all. To long to tell everything, but in my creative work, I do share pieces.
