BIOGRAPHY

Jen lives in the Midlands with her husband and two children. With a Masters Degree in Medieval History, Jen loves castles and King John a little too much. Strangely un-British, she does not like tea, oranges or marzipan, but adores French cheese, guava juice and Chinese food (not together).

When not writing, Jen can often be found pointing out historical inaccuracies in period dramas, being a Lady that Lunches with close friends and playing board games with her family. Note: her handbags are always heavy due to multiple books (just in case she needs them).

Quinn is ready to start her perfect summer. She's secured a spot at Fullerton Castle in the archives department. Fullerton Castle is also a tourist destination, with a gift shop and medieval reenactors. Quinn's best friend Frankie will be working in the gift shop so she can eat lunch with her every day. Quinn has her hopes pinned on getting a Letter of Recommendation that she will be able to use at the British Society of Medieval History. However, Quinn is in for a surprise when she sees Patrick Stevenson will also be working in the Muniments room. Patrick is a year ahead of her and just as passionate about history. Quinn's carefully planned summer is about to deliver more surprises, from her friendship with Frankie to an unexpected romance.

Falling for the Competition is one of those books that you can't put down. Jen Smith has created a strong yet vulnerable character in Quinn. I loved reading about her passion for history and her all-consuming drive toward her goals. Quinn has a fierce loyalty to her friend Frankie, but she also has moments of insecurity. I laughed out loud at some of the scenes between her and Patrick because they were so relatable. Falling for the Competition is so much more than your typical teen romance. Smith has created authentic relationships with their ups and downs and celebrates treating each other with respect. All the main characters are well developed and the writing flows effortlessly. I highly recommend Falling for the Competition.
