I’ve loved Fantasy since the first grade. My parents would probably say I’ve loved Science Fiction even longer (Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, anybody?) But either way, it’s had a huge impact on my life.

My favorite books are character driven, regardless of genre, and that’s the way I try to write. The Broken Javelin is my debut novel – it’s got a little bit of everything I’ve always enjoyed in my favorite books, little reflections of things that made me laugh or ponder or say “wow, I’d love to write something like that.” That last one might be the single biggest reason this book exists in the first place, and in a way, it’s basically one big shout-out to all the great authors in my life.

I live in Charleston, SC, USA with my wife and our little dog. I won’t say how many characters are named for or inspired by those two, but it’s probably more than zero. I also play and build guitars, engineer stuff as a day job, and get to the beach with a book as often as possible.
