BIOGRAPHY

I'm an ex therapist writing young adult books highlighting fun, wholesome adventures that teach coming of age, taking responsibility for yourself and creating the life that you want.
I believe that there is just too much anxiety in the lives of children so worked to make the stories fun but free of stress.
The first book of my first series has been published and is about a fairy who is looking to come of age and puts her trust in the universe finding herself across the Atlantic on a Boston Adventure. There are 7 more stories to go as the fairies discover their personal power and begin to help humanity get back on track.

      • My stories came out of both my children leaving home the same year to move to the Boston area to pursuit their dreams. I was empty nesting unexpectedly and feeling very anxious. As a therapist I knew I needed a creative outlet to manage my feelings. In retrospect I realized that what I had done was write about this individuation process from my children's excited perspective vs my anxious one. So my stories are rooted in what was going on in my life at that time and many of the adventures come out of our experiences.

      • The art work is a draw for me, if I like the cover art I'm going to pick up the book and at least read the intro. I love a good title and feel that I didn't do so well in that department. But a cool title gets me every time.

      • I started writing to manage the anxiety I felt over empty nesting unexpectedly. I never intended to publish anything it was simply an exercise in expressive arts therapy for me. But when a friend asked my how I was coping she suggested that I try to publish. My comment to here was "I'm a therapist not an author. But the idea stuck with me and over the next couple of years it became a idea that I thought about regularly. I eventually stated to take steps necessary to publish. Going back and reading all the stories and editing them with publication in mind. Figuring out how to submit manuscripts without an agent. Etc. I was 56 when this first story was published.

      • That all my stories would be published and out there available for kids to use as helpful guides to the process of becoming who it is they intend to become.

      • Stories we're told should have a beginning a middle and an end with a protagonist and some sort of of challenge to face. But I was writing at a time that my anxiety levels were high as both of my children were out on their own for the first time. I was reading only books with low anxiety levels myself and having been a therapist I was thinking about the increased diagnosis of anxiety disorders in children. So I wrote with this in mind. I wanted fun, wholesome and exciting stories without the anxiety factor. I think in all the books I've written in this series and my second I have achieved this.

      • My daughter left home the at 15 to pursuit her dream of going to a D1 college for Hockey. I just happened to fall 1 month after our son left for college so I was empty nesting unexpectedly. I had been an expressive arts therapist for years so when I knew I'd need a creative outlet for my anxiety.
I started to fairy garden. As I worked on my creation my creative brain was asking all sorts of questions about fairies, how big are they? How would they stay warm in New England winters. By the time winter hit I was writing, 8 stories over the course of the next 7 years when my Daughter graduated from her D1 college.
