I especially love working the skilled Nsg Units because of the continuity of care I can provide to my patients . Most of my patients are elderly and are here for long term care .
It has been especially challenging the last almost 5 months as we had to shut the doors to visitors snd family . It had been hard on the patients and many feel their families or their people have forgotten about them . Many times they ask , Does my family know where I am ?In all reality the staff becomes their family , we sit with them , hold their hands , listen to them . Families do call , face time , send cards, letters and faxes . We have arranged close window visits where they can see each other but have to talk over cell phones , I pads , etc.
Hopefully soon we will be able to arrange some kind of visit where the parties stay in there 6 foot squares .
The pandemic has been hard on everyone .
