I have always loved to write, every since I was able to spell words and form sentences, because I love stories, and literary expression. Stories have always transported me to new worlds, be it through books, movies, or video games.
It's absolutely critical. The old saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover," may be prudent, however, we absolutely have first impressions. The book cover and title are the first impression a potential reader has, and if it doesn't compel them to read the book description, it's useless.
Yes, I read all of them. Honestly, it takes so much effort to create a book, from ideation, to writing it, editing, formatting, cover design, marketing it, that it's akin to birthing something new into this world. It's painful to get bad reviews, and it's elating to get good ones. While the emotional high or low is a par for the course, the key is loving your own work as an author, and trying not to take anything to heart. Ignore the haters and keep showing up for the fans.
