I would have to choose Historical Romance, as I genuinely enjoy reading that genre of books. I do think that one day I will try my hand at it but I believe there is a great amount of research that needs to go into a book like that to get those details just right, and I wouldn't want to give it less than my very best effort. The reality is that I just can't dedicate the time to that right now.
I try to read every single one of my book reviews and I am especially cognizant of those that don't speak highly of my work. Of course it's disappointing but in the end I use it as an opportunity to do something better if I can, and if I can't or I disagree with the review, I have to keep in mind that you can't please everybody.
With my first book it was like ripping a band aid off, I knew nothing about the process and just wanted to get my work out there. Through that experience I have learned from my mistakes, and I've learned how the process works. How to utilize certain literary services to my advantage and how to elevate my work. I'm very grateful for that first experience.
