  - I don't write novels but I certainly incorporate much of what happens to me into my memoir. The humorous parts and some of the sadder parts as well.

  - Write more and stop belittling yourself by saying you can never be Philip Roth or Mordecai Richler. You are not supposed to be Roth or Richler. You are supposed to be Tommy Schnurmacher. If I knew that then, I would have written a few novels by now.
