Usually up by 6am, writing until I need to clock in at 8am for the day job. I write over lunch, clock out from the day job by 5pm and write until 10pm. Weekends I'm almost always writing 8-10 hours both Sat and Sun... unless distracted by something shiny or furry.
My younger self didn't know about the world of books. We had 2 genres in my childhood - coloring books and 1000 page biographies of dead guys. It wasn't until I was the ripe old age of (close to) 30 before I discovered what an amazing getaway books were. That being said, I did let too much time go by before I took my writing seriously. I would tell myself to write and keep writing. Even if it's garbage, you're working your imagination like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it becomes.
Oh lord yes. I'm sure every writer out there has experienced this at some point or another. My advice, keep writing. Again, even if it's garbage. Even if nothing useful comes of it, your brain will eventually kick into gear and you'll be back on track. Also, music. I don't listen to music while I write, but I have found that if I let myself zone out and then think about my story, ideas will start flowing.
