      • I believe we all have a purpose and discovering what that purpose is can be life changing. I am very fortunate to have discovered mine and I do not want to leave this earth until I have fulfilled it.

        • That's beautifully said. I think discovering that sense of purpose gives real shape to everything we do. I'm glad you've found yours , it’s a powerful thing.
My first book, Gilbert’s Gobstopper, came out in 1987.
Since then, I’ve written across many genres, children’s books, adult novels, poetry, and even scripts for radio and stage.
I’m probably best known for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which connected with readers around the world and won a few awards.
Altogether, I’ve published over 30 books.
I’m driven by a fascination with human nature and love telling stories that feel honest and deeply human.
I always appreciate when someone takes an interest in my work.
          How about you?

          • Absolutely. The road of an author can be lonely at times. You wonder if anyone is paying attention. I have a sticky note on my Mac in my office that says. Become so good they can't ignore you. I love the creative process and regardless of how many it impacts I feel it my responsibility to get the work out there

            • I really like that mindset. Focusing on the craft and staying true to the work is what keeps us moving forward. That sticky note is a great reminder to keep pushing no matter what.

You know, it’s funny… we pour so much heart into writing the book, only to realize that the real mountain begins when it’s time to actually get it into readers’ hands.

How have you been handling that side of things? Because honestly, I’ve found myself asking tough questions am I even using the right strategies? Is there a better way than just throwing money at promotions and hoping for sales? That’s when I started rethinking the entire approach.

      • I believe it has opened to door for many people to gain access to an endless amount of reading material. I also think it has created a wonderful platform for authors to get their work in front of a larger audience.

      • Yes but I don't look at it like that so to say. My advice is to never force anything. When you are in the flow just go and don't stop. When it's not there don't worry about it. Your next great idea will hit you when you don't force it

      • I have always been a creative at heart but it was not until 2020 I began writing inspirational pieces during the pandemic to lift others up. That was where my current journey started. I don't believe it could have happened any earlier because much of what I write about comes from personal experience. I believe I had to reach this point in order to share my story on a grand scale.

      • Stress about what? Always keep light hearted and know everything is a process. Struggle is part of that process. Amazing things come out of embracing struggle. There is also nothing wrong with stepping away and giving yourself some space to breath and gain perspective.
