I would tell my younger self to write and keep writing. Do not get distracted by life, use life as an outlet. Do not listen to those telling you that you can not do it. Save all your poems!
I probably shouldn't but I do. The good one make my heart soar and the bad ones bring me crashing back down to earth. Some of the less than stellar ones have spurred me on to edit and make changes, others I have had to ignore. Take several deep breaths, wipe the tears and keep moving forward. I have come to realize that good or bad, SOMEONE read my book.
