    • When you were young, did you ever see writing as a career or full-time profession?

      • Tracy, I never did. I started writing when I was little, but I didn't give it a thought until my daughter was 2 and I was going stir-crazy. (That would've been in 1976.) I took writing courses and really tried to hone my craft for a long time, just setting small goals as I went along. But when I won a writing contest and made $75, I realized there was money to be made and I think that was when I started looking at it as a possible profession.

      • I don't really write 'for a genre' - I just write what interests me at the time. But I'd like to write a contemporary-romance-in-a-small-town story, like Virgin River or Sweet Magnolias. I'm sick of all the negativity out there.
