Short bio or SYNOPSIS here on writing as your passion.
Writing is something I have done for as long as I can remember. It is a huge part of who I am. Since the days when I could first put crayon to paper I've been creating adventures for others to enjoy. Throughout my life I have tried on many other career hats, finding success in some but always discovering them to be a tight, constricting fit. It wasn't until the day I made the decision to pursue my passion for writing that I found my true path. I didn't choose to be an author, the stories chose me. And I couldn't be happier to be their outlet.
How long have you been writing and what inspired you to do it seriously?
As I said, I have been writing since I was a little girl. But it was having my own children that inspired me to make it my full time vocation. I don't ever want them to be afraid to take a chance and follow their own dreams. What better way to teach that lesson than to lead by example?
When choosing a name for your characters, what do you consider about them that determines what you finally call them?
I consider their backstory, where my plot will take them, their origins and ancestry; there's actually quite a lot that goes into it!
What can you suggest to new authors to start their career?
Read! Read everything you can get your hands on and in various genres! You never know where inspiration can be found, so if you truly want to write you need to read!
Do you only concentrate on same genre in your writing and reading?
Yes and no, let's take my book Raven, for example. It being the works of Edgar Allen Poe weaved into a backstory, I obviously read a lot of Poe. However, there are also spells and witchcraft in it that are rhyming and whimsical. For inspiration for that portion I treated myself to all kinds of poetry.
What do you do to get book reviews? what is the best review you ever got?
I give out ARCs at launch, I do book review blog tours, and I let them come in organically. Any review where a reader is touched by one of my books in some way--whether it made them laugh, cry, or shiver--puts their kind words under my category of a best review!
Do you have a trailer or do you intend to create one for your own book?
I do have trailers! The Conduit, Embrace, Sacrifice, Ascension, Adapted For Film, and Crane all have amazing booktrailers made by my dear friend, and fellow author, Christy Sloat.
Do you ever get writer’s block?
I do! I think all authors get it from time to time. During those moments I try to power through, get words down with the understanding that the first draft of a book is work in progress, I can go back and rewrite what I need to when the self-edits begin.
Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
I try to get my administrative and marketing work done in the mornings, then have a little writing time after lunch. In the evening, while the rest of my family is relaxing for the night, I do a bit more writing.
How do you promote your work? How Quotesrain help you in your book promotions and sales, would you like to refer this platform to your author friends?
I attend book events, including Once Upon a Book Author Signing and The Happily Ever After Ball which I am hosting in Frankenmuth MI next August, I utilize social media with the help of Quotesrain which reaches out to new readers for me, and I interact with my readers as much as I can!
Would you like to share something with your readers and fan?
Every new story that inspires me, I write for all of you! You keep reading them and I will writing them! Thank you for your support!
