Sarah Stein Interview On 13, Jun 2023

"Sarah Stein is a captivating storyteller and an internationally renowned author whose tales have enchanted readers worldwide. Born in the vibrant month of October in 1985, she started to lean toward becoming a writer in her teens and finally pursued it in 2013. Sarah's tireless dedication to her craft extends beyond the confines of her writing desk."
Did you always want to be a writer? What was the first story you ever wrote about?

I loved everything about books as far back as I can remember. I started to lean toward becoming a writer in my teens and finally pursued it in 2013. The first story I ever wrote was a romance. It was published and released in 2015 by Siren Bookstrand.

How do you feel being an international bestselling author?

I never expected to have that title, but I’m stoked that I finally hit an important goal in my writing career. It took a considerable amount of time and determination.

Why did you choose to write Paranormal Suspense?

I don’t know. I guess one day my brain was working overtime, and I thought, well, I’d love to write PNR. It took a few years to get the story out, polished, and then published.

Having written so many novels, how do keep track of so many characters?

I keep track of my characters by using both Excel and Word. I have a worksheet of every character, along with their traits and background. If I didn’t keep track, I’d end up writing them into another book. Haha.

How did you begin writing Unleashed: Sweat-Dripping Tales? When writing a series how do you keep things fresh, for both your readers and also yourself?

Unleashed is a series of five short, erotic stories. They’re separate stories, so keeping the series fresh wasn't hard. I wrote each short story separately throughout the years and then combined them.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

It isn’t easy to become a well-known published author but stay strong and determined, and eventually, you’ll get there. I’m not well-known, as let’s say, Colleen Hoover or Tiffany Reisz, but one day, I hope to become one.

What is the #1 mistake that you see first-time authors make? What mistakes did you make on your road to becoming an author?

The #1 mistake is assuming being a published author would be easy. It’s not, especially if you’re self-published. I’m considered a hybrid author. Both self and traditional publishing have their pros and cons. One mistake I made in becoming an author was assuming getting my stories out and recognized would be the easy part. That’s probably the hardest for me.

Do you find it more challenging to write the first book in a series or to write the subsequent novels?

I find it challenging to write the subsequent books in a series. You have to ensure everything aligns more than if you were to write a standalone. It can be hard, but also fun to write.

According to you, what elements grab the attention of readers from the first page to the last page of your books?

Leading with an attention-grabbing line or prologue before starting the book or series is what grabs my attention as a reader, and I’m assuming it would be that way for others.

Are you working on anything at present that you would like to share with your readers?

Well, I just finished and submitted Summer Nights, which will be featured in the Holidays & Hookups Anthology. This anthology is set to release on June 6, 2023.

How has your experience working with AllAuthor been?

I don’t use AllAuthor often, but I enjoy the platform when I do. So many things are involved, such as cover contests and featured book options.

      • Not at all. I wanted to be a singer but my mind didn't grasp the entire concept of being a star. I just wanted my voice to be heard. What's funny is that I have stage fright and could never follow that dream.

      • I experience writer's block a lot, especially when I'm between novels. I think it's mostly due to having to promote my work and so my mind focuses on that aspect instead of writing.

      • I don't always read my book reviews. I think a reader should be able to voice exactly how they feel about a book. I'm a huge reader and so I think the author shouldn't take it to heart when a reader loves or hates their book. My works won't be for everyone, and I'm fine with that.
