Which is your favorite childhood memory?
I really don't have a favorite childhood memory. I When I first started writing, I was about 12; I have no idea what happened to that manuscript.
Which of your childhood dreams was the first to die?
Being a newspaper writer.
Do you remember the first book you ever wrote?
Yes, I was 12; it was never finished and the manuscript was lost. Sad, but...
Who was the first person you shared your first ever story with?
My mother. Now she was not encouraging in helping me to ever get published. Yet, the first book I wrote and published was in 2009 as a request from a marketing professional. They loved it!
What are some things you did to understand and perfect the craft of writing?
I am a faith-based person. I listen to God on what and how to write. Recently, I've decided to join social media groups that will help stretch me as a writer and in the "book" business.
Who is your target audience? What are some things you wish your readers would take away from your books?
My target audience is full of women entrepreneurs of faith. I hope my readers will hear God and get what they need to push forward in their lives.
What challenges did you face while writing your book, No Longer a Victim?
I had just found out about further infidelity in my marriage and I was broken. I sat down with tears streaming down my face and wrote my book in one week. Yes, tears everyday. The challenge was being honest that I allowed myself to be the victim. Once the book was finished I stopped being the victim.
What is the one genre you feel you can never write? Why?
Urban Fiction, becuase it never ends positiviely. There is not HEA (Happily Ever After)
Having published for 10 years, what is the hardest thing about publishing books?
The hardest thing is sharing insight needed to understand the plot of the book. The foundation of each of my books comes from a spiritual direction. Sometimes the direction is not where people think it is.
How does writing make you feel? When you're not writing, what does a normal day for you look like?
Being more than a writer, a normal day looks like chaos! Writing makes me feel like I’m accomplishing my future goals.
When writing novels, is it better to have daily time-spent-writing goals or words-written goals?
Words written is better for me than time spent.
What according to you are the key ingredients of a successful book?
I’m a faith-based writer; the key ingredient of my successful books is writing the way God intends.
Which is the next book you are working on? Give us an insight into it.
I’m working on three projects at once. It’s been Hard to finish over the past year; two of which are Damia Willis, FBI series.
