Where are you from? How has our childhood influenced you as an author?
I’m from Tennessee. I wanted to be an actress when I was a kid. I guess writing came hand and hand with my childhood dream.
Who all are a part of your family? How critical are they of your writing?
My beautiful mom has always encouraged me to follow my heart.
Why did you choose to write in the romance genre?
I’ve always loved the idea of Romance. I think I was reincarnated from the Romantic Era. Lol
At what age did you begin writing? Back then did you expect to end up with a six-part book series?
I started writing poems at the age of four or five. No, I never thought I’d end up with a series.
What inspired you to write your first published romantic suspense book "Partially Broken Never Destroyed"?
It was a release of different emotions, perspectives, and personal experiences that I felt I had to express.
If you could bring one character from the Partially Broken Never Destroyed series to life, who would it be and why?
I think Dexter was one of my favorites. He was always funny and nosey, but very loyal.
How did you feel to finally take on the title of being an Authoress in the year 2012?
I felt like I’d accomplished a real personal goal beyond the expected.
Who inspired the character of Reece in your book, Reece in Pieces?
Reece came from a mental collection of heartbreak, suffering, and pain.
What challenges did you face while stepping out of the Urban series world and publish a standalone project, "Alyce Leaves Wonderland"?
Wow, I didn’t expect this question. Uh...it was definitely a challenge switching over to something different. Readers expect the “norm” from authors, so I wasn’t sure if it would catch.
Why did you decide to dabble with Erotica and an urban action thriller under a different pen name?
I wanted to separate myself from my usual writing. Kind of like when Beyoncé says she turns into Sasha Fierce. I never want to limit myself.
What is something that people don’t usually know about being an author?
It’s HARD WORK! There’s so many aspects to it. The different types of editing, book covers, advertising, promoting, copywriting, publishing, distribution, etc. You truly have to love what you do.
How do you maintain that equilibrium between writing what you want and what your readers want?
Well, I would say that most authors are critical thinkers and we over analyze everything. However, I pay close attention to what goes on in the world around me and how people react to certain circumstances. Applying Observation, knowledge, and perspective usual gives an authentic equilibrium.
What are some author milestones you've achieved so far? What more do you hope to achieve in ten years time?
I’ve written 20 books by far and hope to have 50+ in ten years time.
Who is one romance author that you would love to do a collaboration with?
I feel that I think so different from others. Like, what if this author wants to be serious instead of funny in this scene, or what if this author thinks this person should die and I want the character to be the lead? I don’t know. I’m very passionate about my work so...But I do admire Nora Roberts.
What has your AllAuthor experience been like so far? What are some highlights?
AllAuthor definitely takes promoting to the next level. The setup is good, the mock ups are nicely designed, and the tweeting aspect is awesome. I do wish however that authors could delete old gifs in case of book cover changes.
