Born in Buckinghamshire, UK, what do you miss the most about childhood?
What I most miss is the farm we moved to from Buckinghamshire when I was eight years old. It was a charmed life.
What developed your love for reading?
When we moved to Wales, I went from a huge school with 45 kids in a classroom, to a tiny village school with only 30 children in the entire school. The teachers there asked my mother if she was aware that I could neither read nor write at the age of eight. Since I was the oldest and my previous school had never flagged any issues, she didn’t even realise there was a problem. I honestly think I might have grown up illiterate if not for the move, but to discover I was behind by several years prompted me to catch up, just to prove I wasn’t different from anyone else. Plus we had no TV, so that played a part too lol.
How did your parents encourage you to start writing?
My parents wanted to take a step back to a simpler lifestyle. One that was organic and self sufficient. We grew our own food. Kept sheep, cows, chickens and pigs and that vision included less reliance on electronics, so we basically made our own entertainment.
At what age did you write your first story?
I wrote a lot of poetry as an angsty teenager, but the first full length novel I wrote, where I actually sat down and decided to write a book, came when I was twenty-one.
How did you come up with the idea for your novel, Serendipity: Ostara & Omens?
I saw a lot of author friends writing in anthologies and thought it would be fun to do. I was impatient, so I chose a fantasy anthology, even though I didn’t write fantasy at the time. That one short story, Serendipity: Samhain & Sorcery, birthed an entire series, of which Ostara & Omens was one.
How many books do you plan to write in the "Loved By Three" series?
Love by Three is a multi author series, so currently only one of the books is mine. However, the success of the series has encouraged me to add another book to it, which will release in early December 2021
Would you ever like to visit the distant world of Zyntari ever?
I’m a bit of a home body. I think I prefer to live inside my imagination rather than visit the creations I come up with.
Did you plan all the books in Serendipity (3 Book Series) in advance?
After writing the first book, I decided to spread the series over eight books, coinciding with the sabats of the wheel of the year, so yes, the remaining 7 books were planned in advance..
What is the best writing tip you ever received and who gave it to you?
Never give up. I can’t remember who said it, but it resonated because my biggest regret is giving up writing in my twenties, and not revisiting it for twenty five years.
When writing novels, is it better to have daily time-spent-writing goals or words-written goals?
In my case, it’s a words written goal. Simply because I spend so much time procrastinating. I often spend hours where I’m supposed to be writing, but produce nothing, so that wouldn’t be an honest goal for me.
What do you enjoy the most about living in rural Wales?
I love living in the country. I don’t think I could ever move back to the city now.
What other things, apart from writing do you enjoy doing?
I read, every single day. That’s actually what rekindled my love of writing. I often joke that I took up writing to avoid breaking the bank with my prolific reading habit, but there’s a grain of truth in that.
What is your next book about which is going to publish soon?
My next release is called Resurrection and it goes live on November 27th 2021. It’s about a couple trying to save their marriage. Not something I’ve written before, but something I really like reading about.
What do you like the most about AllAuthor? Do you have any suggestions for the website?
I love the cover competitions, but I do kind of wish they were less of a popularity completion and more about the excellence of the cover itself.
