What inspired you to become a flight attendant, and how has it shaped your perspective on the world?

I have always had a passion for traveling. I started flying when I was 21 years old and have been blessed to see many places in the world I had never even considered going to. This has humbled me, made me more grateful, and has made me want to encourage others to travel to different places that are off-the-beaten-path.

Of all the destinations you’ve visited, which one has left the most lasting impression, and why?

I have two favorites. The first would be Italy, because I think the landscape is just breathtaking, the food is incredible and fresh, and the culture is welcoming. The second would be Kenya. I was excited to see wild animals (that’s why most people go right?) However, this trip changed my life. It inspired me to help others (preserving the tribes-Masai culture) and also to help protect the wild life that have been threatened (elephants that are hunted, for example). Not to mention, the night sky in Kenya is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen- more stars than I could have ever imagined!

What’s the most surprising cultural lesson you’ve learned during your travels?

Each culture is unique. Values are different by region. I think it is important to protect and value diversity and perspective and to learn from each other to make the world a better place for future generations.

What inspired you to write Explore Thailand and make it accessible to both first-time travelers and kids?

I wrote this book after having children, hence wanting to now include family travel in my books. Once you have kids, it is hard to travel without them-so I think it is important for people to know that you CAN and SHOULD keep traveling- even with kids! The memories and exposure children can have from traveling is empowering and will help them grow up learning to value diversity and culture.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to embrace a more adventurous, travel-focused lifestyle?

There is no better time than the present. Money will come and go. Take the plunge and go see the world while you can!

How did your travel experiences influence the story in your novel, “Indulgence Airways”?

Honestly, many people have this idea that ALL pilots and flight attendants “hook-up.” The “Mile high club fantasy” is something many people have. Erotica has always been my favorite genre to read, so I took a chance and wrote my own, with a fantasy that I hear about all the time, a stereotypical response people say to me often. It was actually a very fun book to write!

What inspired you to write across such diverse genres—family books and steamy romance?

I like to write about things I experience or think about. If I am researching something (my family books for example), I write a book about it. I love the ability to create something new that combines research into one place for people who may read my book. I am passionate about many different things, so I write about many different things.

Which of your books is closest to your heart, and what makes it special to you?

My newest release, Beyond the Safari, is a philanthropy piece. Although yes, it is a guidebook for Kenya, it is immersive. It details the Masai culture and the importance of preserving culture and raising awareness for people who may not know the struggles these tribes face. 50% of all book profits will go directly to the Masai people to help them obtain necessary items- school supplies, medicine, food, etc. In addition, I also set up a fundraiser where readers can choose to donate additionally to the tribe. I hope this book will inspire people to visit Kenya. The trip changed my life completely and I am very much looking forward to go back and seeing how we can help preserve the tribal culture.

How do you hope “Sky Bound Dreams” will impact readers who are considering a career in aviation?

Interviewing to be a flight attendant can be very stressful. This book is a general guide (not airline specific) to try and encourage people to research the airline they wish to apply for before they apply. I hope this book will be a resource for individuals who wish to pursue this career and help them achieve their goal of landing the job.

Do you have a particular routine or environment that helps you channel creativity when writing?

I like to focus on creating a detailed outline for each book. The outline makes the book writing much easier. While I am traveling, or at work flying, I like to make notes that I can refer to later and see how I can fit them into the outline I am working on. I have various random notes saved that I always sift through later. Traveling always provides the most inspiration.

What motivated you to start your travel podcast, and what has been the most rewarding part of hosting it?

The podcast is still fairly new. I wanted to bring real-life stories to the forefront for my listeners. I think the most rewarding part is when people will reach out to me and comment on something I talked about, or give me ideas for new podcast episodes. It makes me happy they are listening and enjoy it!

How do you choose the stories and topics to share on your podcast?

Many of the episodes come from experiences I have had, whether on a plane, while traveling abroad, or simply just things going on in the world. Ironically, many of my coworkers and friends have helped come up with ideas through conversations I have had with them.

Have any of your podcast episodes sparked ideas for your books or vice versa?

I talk about my books often during my podcasts. The feedback listeners give have given me inspiration for new destinations to consider for future travel guides.

What’s the most unexpected or memorable feedback you’ve received from your podcast audience?

The most unexpected moments for me have been when I go to work and suddenly everyone knows who I am because of the podcast-apparently I have a reputation now- haha

What has your AllAuthor experience been like so far? What are some highlights?

I have really enjoyed my collaboration with AllAuthor. The platform is easy to use and I am able to connect with readers who may not have known me otherwise. I signed up when I was just starting out as a writer-which is a terrifying time, because of course you want to be successful, but building a brand and brand-awareness is very intimidating. AllAuthor made me feel confident to put myself out there and continue writing. There will always be someone who can benefit from one of my books. That has always been my goal- to give back and help others when I can.

      • It can be very hectic! I am usually working on two books at once (one fiction, one non-fiction) that way when I get writers block, I can switch over and do research. I love getting lost in the story as I am writing it! I typically spend 1 hour writing fiction (unless I am on a good pace than I will write longer) and then I switch over to non-fiction. I alternate that with running my Podcast.

      • Yes! I appreciate my readers so much! I view the bad reviews as constructive criticism. I sometimes will go back into a book and make edits to further enhance the book; I also use that criticism toward the next book I am writing. The bad reviews help me grow as a writer. The good reviews just make me smile and feel proud of my work! Keep them coming! I am so grateful!
