"What I ate, how I dressed, and the things I liked to do were dictated and orchestrated by my mother, my aunt, and my grandmother. As an adult, I like to refer to them as The Three Sisters. According to Iroquois legend, corn, beans and squash were three inseparable sisters who relied on each other. Being of Italian decent, I thought of my three "sisters" as ricotta, Parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses. Together, they made a mean ziti or lasagna, but when apart, something just wasn't right."
