• I leaned next to the slot, peering into the darkness. Stale air greeted my nose, but even with the bit of sunlight behind me, there was nothing to see but the pitch black interior. I glanced down briefly as I reached for the phone in my pocket, wanting to use its flashlight to try and actually see in the room. With the phone in my right hand, I glanced back up to find a bloodshot brown eye staring back at me through the slot.
