Maeve held back a cry of delight; the cool air washed away some of her nausea, but when she looked back at the room she had all but destroyed, she felt another rush of guilt. When she looked up at the moon, however, her tremors stilled. Slowly, the sky above calmed her nerves, and after many of her own whispered assurances, she lifted one of her feet and rested it on the roof outside. As she took her first steps toward freedom, a question from before crossed her mind again: Have I failed?
