Book Overview
Marketing your books shouldn’t leave you exhausted, discouraged, or sacrificing your peace, your calling, or the life you’re trying to build.
Many authors enter publishing believing success depends on constant visibility, relentless content creation, and chasing every new strategy. The pressure to do everything can leave writers overwhelmed and spending more time marketing than creating.
Sustainable marketing grows from stewardship, intentional choices, and a long-term perspective.
Stewarding Your Story is an encouraging, practical guide to book marketing for Christian authors who want to build an author platform with wisdom, integrity, and intention. Using the metaphor of an author home, this book helps writers understand how the various pieces of publishing and marketing fit together so they can make informed decisions without feeling pressured to adopt every strategy.
This book goes beyond marketing to help you build a sustainable writing life that supports your calling. Whether you pursue traditional publishing, self-publishing, or a hybrid path, you’ll learn how to make marketing decisions that align with your goals, your readers, and your writing life.
Inside, you’ll learn how to:
• Create a definition of success that reflects your writing goals and your life
• Create a thriving author life that nurtures your writing and your readers
• Choose the publishing path that best fits your goals and current stage of life
• Build a website and newsletter that serve readers well
• Understand the reader journey and create meaningful connections
• Use social media in a way that connects with readers without consuming your writing time
• Approach collaborations, promotions, reviews, and launch strategies with discernment
• Evaluate paid advertising and crowdfunding opportunities
• Avoid scams, predatory services, and costly marketing mistakes
• Serve your backlist and build long-term visibility

• Avoid burnout while building a sustainable writing career
Whether you’re preparing to publish your first book or looking for a healthier approach to marketing after years of publishing, Stewarding Your Story offers faith-informed guidance grounded in stewardship, discernment, and long-term thinking.
Faithfully stewarding your stories begins with a thoughtful plan, realistic expectations, and the freedom to build the writing life God has called you to.
